You aren't required to change your name. Some women do, some don't. Totally a personal decision.

I applied for SSN using my married name, with my husband's last name as my last name. Same thing when you apply for AOS, you will use your married name...

My wife tried to get a SSN using my name and the Marriage license. Because the Visa was within two weeks of expiring, she had to wait for the "Green Card." If she had applied earlier there should have been no problem.

Cheers

you probably mean the I-94. good advise to the OP. if you don't want to wait till you have an EAD or green card, go ahead and do it now.

In regards to the question in your wifes signature:

My wife and children just returned from the Philippines. I never thought to have the name changed in the passport. After about a half hour of Ticket Agents debating the issue, and asking for a copy of the Marriage Certificate, (which I never thought to bring) they said it was OK to travel to the Philippines. After that there weren't any questions. Be assured if the passport name doesn't match the green card, they will question it.

But hey, I guess they are just doing their job!

Cheers
