Reasons for an RFE can be for a number of reasons eg

* Leaving a question unanswered or by not putting 'N/A' or 'None'

* A signature missing

* A document missing

* More evidence needed of having met the 2 year requirement

* Not including a translation of a document

* Submitting the translation but forgetting to submit the original

* Not including a full divorce decree

* Leaving gaps in time frames for employment, residence

etc etc

These are some of the reasons I have read of for a RFE

We got one because we needed new copies of our marriage record. In Sweden those are recorded by the tax authority and the copies we send did not include my husbands parents names. Since this record also doubles as his birth certificate it had to include that. Also they wanted the printout in both Swedish and English.

Our RFE was to provide more supporting evidence we had met within the past 2 years....

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

Yes, I am curious too. Though we've met up on average every 5 weeks for 4 years (with a 5 month break up in there that I am going to gloss over) neither of us kept any boarding passes or tickets. We can scrounge up itineraries for the past couple of trips... hope that will be enough as far as that goes. I have lots of stamps in my passport, but no way to really prove that I was seeing HIM specifically... and photos, but again, we've been bad at taking pictures in the past 2 years. The last photo taken of us was in October 2004!!

It was a mistake we didn't see it on the first papers that we had to send photos and things in and supporting evidence. We just did the 3/4 passport photo, bio forms, I-129F and mailed it. We answered the question on how we met but didn't realise we were to provide evidence then. We really regret it. Now they are asking for the evidence and frontal face passport photos of BOTH. So we're just delayed now...

Reasons for an RFE can be for a number of reasons eg

* Not including a full divorce decree

I followed up with a supervisor at USCIS about the divorce decree. Not sure what you mean by "full divorce decree" as a decree is usually a single page, maybe two, signed by the judge or chancellor saying this marriage is officially over. It should include signatures of both parties, and the judge, and be notarized and probably stamped as "received" by the court.

If you mean full divorce settlement (e.g. complaint, property settlement, set to order, child support documents, etc., etc.), they were adamant about not needing it -- only needing the decree (or certificate as it may be called in some counties or states).

Of course something in the review might cause them to want to investigate further, and the divorce settlement might have the information they want ... which would cause them to ask for the entire thing. But Office Blair, who I waited for an hour to speak to, acted surprised that I thought of sending the entire thing. Divorce settlements, especially if they were messy, can be hundreds of pages, mostly of arcane legal-ese.

I'm sure people have been asked, but I think it's rare. Of course, wouldn't hurt to send I guess, but I had personal information in mine I didn't want floating around in a couple of countries.

02/06/2006 - Sent I-129F to TSC

02/08/2006 - Received by TSC, transferred to CSC

03/21/2006 - Per recommendation of attorney, sent add'l docs to amend I-129F

03/27/2006 - Per recommendation of attorney, sent same add'l docs via certified mail (in case first got lost)

05/02/2006 - NOA2 from CSC (via email notification)

07/22/2006 - Packet 3 received

08/12/2006 - Packet 3 sent

10/03/2006 - Packet 4 received

10/26/2006 - Interview at Embassy, 221g (blue slip): advised how to file for citizenship of child (??)

11/29/2006 - Pink slip received after attorney met with immigration chief

Yeah I do imagine its rare but included it as a reason for an RFE as it has happened. They had wanted the settlement included. I just went back to the old forums to double check. I guess I was trying to make a point too that RFE's can be for any number of reasons....it all depends on the picture the adjudicator is forming in his mind. Each case is different.

Send a copy of your passport stamps(don't forget to send a copy of the ID page along with it), credit card receipts, hotel receipts, pictures(october 2004 was not longer than 2 years ago.... so it's okay), itineraries... And good luck!!

I kept my married name after my divorce. I included my divorce decree and my birth certificate in the package. However, they sent an RFE for me to show something that proved that the person on the birth certificate and divorce decree were one and the same.

Acceptable proof was listed as a copy of my marriage license (prior to divorce) or my passport. Not quite sure how my passport proved it, but it was what they listed.

Now this is interesting... Since my fiance had a divorce, should I send a copy of her birth certificate with the translation?

K1 Visa Process long ago and far away...

02/09/06 - NOA1 date

12/17/06 - Married!

AOS Process a fading memory...

01/31/07 - Mailed AOS/EAD package for Olga and Anya

06/01/07 - Green card arrived in mail

Removing Conditions

03/02/09 - Mailed I-751 package (CSC)

03/06/09 - Check cashed

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

03/28/09 - Olga did biometrics

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)
