I-129F sent without affadavit - OK?

I recently sent the K-1 visa application, and received NOA1 from USCIS. As the form did not tell me to include the Affadavit of Support and supporting documents, I did not do so. I have a friend who went through the process a year ago, and he sent everything at once. Am I going to get an RFE now? I am just concerned that I cost us some time.

You did correct. Your affidavit of support is for the consulate stage.

:guides: above to make sure you know the whole process.

You are fine, as William said it is only needed for the embassy. As long as the rest of your paperwork is in order, there shouldn't be a RFE. Good luck on your journey :)

Thanks for the info. But my friend's application apparently was ok sending it early. Did USCIS just send it all to the embassy? USCIS told me on the phone that the National Center needs that stuff, and would send a request. VJ seems full of posts about bad information from the phone reps at USCIS though.

The USCIS forwards the petition after the 2nd NOA (Approval). The first NOA is only a receipt. The affidavit and supporting documents are not needed by the NVC. They are required at the Embassy / Consulate level for final visa approval.

Well if you look at the I-129F petition very carefully, you will see it doesn't ask for the I-134.

You sure your not mixed up with the G-325A Biographic?

Thanks again folks. Yes, I did read the I-129 carefully, thus I did not send the form and proof of support. My buddy specifically made reference to tax returns, and spooked me into thinking I made a mistake. I feel better about it now - but still wonder how his stuff wen't through. Our tax dollars at work I guess!!

Bring I-134 (affidavit of support) upon interview. That's a must.

Good luck!

The Consulate will most likely want an affidavit, and supporting evidence, dated after your petition is approved. Your friend is either mistaken on when he/she sent it or they got lucky. ;)

Looks like your buddy got you confused a bit :) You personally send nothing to NVC, it's all done by VSC once the petition is approved. Than your approved petition is forwarded to the embassy. You will have to send all the support documents like affidavit of support, tax returns, recently signed letter of intent, proof of ongoing relationship directly to your fiance who will bring it all to the embassy interview in Kiev. I suggest you :guides: for the next steps and start preparing for the interview. Your fiance will have some docs to collect/translater in Ukraine. It really helps to kill time while waiting plus once the petition is approved you will be ready to go. By the way, Packet 3 for Ukraine can be downloaded from the Kiev embassy website. It will give you an idea of what is needed for the interview.
