Hello... Looking through required evidence for the affidavit of support. It says I need to submit statements from officers of my bank of deposits made in past year and present balance...

* Is this just a bank statement? Or an official letter from the bank? How do you get it?

* I have accounts in multiple banks... should I ask for documentation from all?

* I have much of my finances in a 401K and other mutual funds... do I need to submit similar evidence from these accounts? How and what should I submit?

THANK YOU!!

A letter on bank letterhead signed by a bank official is required to state your current checking acct. balance and how much was deposited in the last 12 months. Other accounts are not relevant to this specific requirement...just your main checking acct.

Sounds like your income alone is sufficient. You'll find the instructions indicate you may simply skip all references to assets in that case.

I didn't do a letter from any bank. My income is enough, but I gave my fiance my latest bank statements and my latest Edward Jones statement which shows the stocks, mutual funds, IRA, etc. London tends to just ask for a tax return, but he has the statements to pull out if they should want more information. I really feel that will be adequate to get a picture that I can afford him.
