Hello All -

Just received NOA2 in the mail. Yay! However, I have a few questions. Please advise if you can!

1) There was no consulate listed on the NOA2. Just the phrase: "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate." --- But none listed on the NOA2... is this normal? Fiance lives in London, UK, so that's what we put on the I-129F, obviously. Should I be seeing the word "LONDON, UK" somewhere on this NOA2 form?

2) From reading the VJ FAQs, it seems that my London Fiance is the one who will receive Packet 3, perhaps in a month? Is that correct? I just want to be sure, so I don't have a heart attack when a packet like that doesn't arrive in my mailbox.

3) What's the most important thing for me to do now... do the Affidavit of Support? Can I do that now, even before it's requested from the Embassy?

4) Is it best to call the London Embassy to see what supporting information is required for the Affidavit? Are there any other UKers out there who can advise?? What other information did the folks in London want regarding the affidavit of support? I've got years of tax returns, pay stubs, etc. Anything else??

*** 5) *** I just received the NOA2 today (Saturday, June28).. He's coming to Boston to visit me on Wednesday July 2, just for 10 days. I read some pretty scary stories about INS troubles at POEs for visiting after receiving NOA2.... any advice on how to be prepared???? Anyone been through Boston???

THANK YOU!!

Fiance lives in London, UK, so that's what we put on the I-129F, obviously. Should I be seeing the word "LONDON, UK" somewhere on this NOA2 form? The consulate will be listed on the letter you will receive from NVC. It is not listed on the NOA2.

2) From reading the VJ FAQs, it seems that my London Fiance is the one who will receive Packet 3, perhaps in a month? Is that correct? I just want to be sure, so I don't have a heart attack when a packet like that doesn't arrive in my mailbox. It should go to him.

3) What's the most important thing for me to do now... do the Affidavit of Support? Can I do that now, even before it's requested from the Embassy? You can go ahead and start preparing that now.

4) Is it best to call the London Embassy to see what supporting information is required for the Affidavit? Are there any other UKers out there who can advise?? What other information did the folks in London want regarding the affidavit of support? I've got years of tax returns, pay stubs, etc. Anything else?? In general you will probably need a letter of employment, paystubs and tax returns. UK people can clarify.

I read some pretty scary stories about INS troubles at POEs for visiting after receiving NOA2.... any advice on how to be prepared???? Anyone been through Boston??? Just make sure he has proof that he is going to return (letter of employment maybe stating how many days he has off, lease agreement, return ticket, etc). It may also help for him to have a copy of your NOA2 so that CBP can see that you are going through the K1 process. Others probably have other ideas as well.

THANK YOU!!

Hi. We are just slightly ahead of you but very similiar. You can click on my timeline for all the details. I didn't put it all in the signature.

Basically London had the petition 10 days after NOA2. Packet 3 arrived in the mail 10 days after that. You should get that I-134 done and ready for your fiance to take back to the UK. He can download, fill in, and print the documents for the Embassy while he's there in the US. I can't remember if any of those ask for the LNDxxxx case number. The NVC or the Dept of State can tell you the number once the case has gone there from USCIS. They are very nice on the phone.

DS-230 Part 1 (only do p. 1,2)

DS-156 (print two copies, do no sign)

DS-156 K

DS-157 (for all males age 16-45)

This is what the Packet 3 checklist from London says about documents to bring to the interview http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/docs169.html

This covers the I-134 in detail and the same info is in Packet 3 http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/faffidavit.html

My fiance is coming to the US to visit on July 4. It's okay to visit but they just have to convince to immigration officer that they are a visitor and are going home again. What is the purpose of your visit--Vacation; to see friends. How long are you staying?--10 days What do you do in the UK?--I'm a full time student at ____; I work in a bank. Answer what is asked in a friendly manner. Look like a tourist, not a terrorist or a bum. Don't look panicked or guilty. He is coming to see friends...especially one real good friend. If he's ever over-stayed before, then they will have his name and give him more questioning. They do not know you have applied for a visa. They do know if he's a suspected terrorist or has committed crimes in the US.
