We can check the status on the case number that was on the appointment letter but not on the original letter and the status that was on the appointment letter (biometrics appt) shows nothing other than that they received our file on Jan 10th (which isn't an accurate date anyway) and shows nothing of biometrics that were done in Feb. Do we need to check on this or is the update just lost in cyberspace somewhere?

To reassure you about some things . . .the number on the first letter = the NOA - never works. It is not meant to. The number on the Biometrics appointment letter does work. There won't be a status update after biometrics. The most that happens is that the 'date' changes, although at times that doesn't happen either.

The issue of concern, however, is that the file was sent to Texas and should have been transferred to Vermont. TSC is not doing I-751s anymore and hasn't been for a while although they are still accepting them. Your filing date is close to the time that they stopped transferring them to California and started transferring them to Vermont.

I would definitely follow up on this. You may wish to make an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS office, bring in your two letters, and your expired greencard. They will be able to search using your A# to find out what is happening. It could just be that the file isn't being updated - or it could be that it wasn't transferred and needs to be. The INFOPASS should, at the very least, be able to track where you application is or send an inquiry to find out where it is.

Finally, I-751s transferred to Vermont are taking approximately 12 to 14 months to process (California files are taking 5 to 6 months - sometimes even less), so if the file is in Vermont - or still in Texas waiting to be transferred - you have a bit of a wait. You do want to do some checking though as there should have been some change on your online status, specifically the transfer notice letting you know you are waiting processing at the center to where your file was transferred.

Good luck.

It's at VSC, was transferred immediately from TSC to VSC. I just never changed it on the profile. So in other words, it's their normal screwed up process and there's nothing to worry about at this point?

If you know it is as VSC and you have done your biometrics, then it is a waiting game, yes.

We submitted ours around the same time. Patience is key. Ours got transferred from Texas to Vermont aswell.

When I checked today they were processing cases from April 29, 2007.

Just relax and wait.
