I honestly don't get the whole concept. If someone actually believes in Jesus, would they really use his name this way? And if they don't believe in Jesus, why invoke his name at all? Do people do this with the names of other religious figures?

I doubt they'd dare swear Mohammed's name in vain. I've never heard someone swearing in the name of Buddha. And I'm wondering if it's just a US thing about the whole lord name in vain thing?

I guess I never pay attention but I never heard anybody swearing in the name of religious person in Indonesia. Not sure about other places.
