Are you able to see your case number on the back of the cashed cheque? Some banks allow you to see the check with online banking for a small fee.

You filed at Vermont so your case number will start with EAC.

Some people never get NOA1....don't worry...it's the NOA2 that counts the most.

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!

Our petition got to VSC on June 4 and they dated our notice June 6. I received the NOA1 notice in the mail on June12.

I was able to get our NOA1 from the back of my check that was cleared. I did not even have to wait until check comes back - I was able to see it online! Check the back of the cashed check: the NOA1 would be the one that starts with EAC08 and then 8 more numbers.

Good luck! :)

we to this day havent recieved our NOA1 hard copy, we filed early april, we called and asked if they could give us our number (as we couldnt see it from the cheque) and they gave it to my Fiance over the phone, we called again after 70 days and they said the NOA1 was sent on the 7th of April but it was returned to them, the guy said he would print and send us another copy and eh... still waiting.

So if you dont get it, give them a call and they can give you your number, the NOA1 isnt really important, it is just nice to get it lol.

Hi eveybody, this is my first post on this website, which i find very helpful. I found some really useful information in it. keep up the good work. I have the same problem. I filed an I-130 in April 24th at the vermont service center, and the check was cashed. I never received the notice, however. when i contacted the national customer service number, i managed to get the receipt number, and saw online that it was received on may 1st.

Now the problem I am having is that they told me that i cant file the 129-f witout that notice, and i must wait until i get it or else my application will be significantly delayed. they said that they put in a request for m to resend the notice, but i dont really know if they're telling the truth. I have been waiting for a month now and still didn't get it. Is this true or can i file the I-129f (K-3) and send them the EAC # with my application ??

By the way, it took me forever to reach a human being on that customer service number, and when i did, i prefered the machine. the people are rude, don't know what they are talking about, and can't wait to tell you that they are subcontracted to answer the phones, and they do not work for the USCIS... its a number from HELL

I'd give it a little more time but if it does not show up in a couple of weeks by all means call and MAKE SURE USCIS HAS YOUR CORRECT MAILING ADDRESS!

The good news is that if your check was cashed you can assume they have your petition.

The same thing happened to us, NO NOA1...and our case number number could not be read from our check (it did not show up at all on the bank scan and the original had been destroyed). I called USCIS with no immediate result, at that time their policy that you had to wait 90 days from the filing date before they would answer any questions. So I waited and called back, I got our case number and I decided to check that our address was correct, it was NOT! So, the logical thing to do was correct the address over the phone with the rep, right? EXCEPT she did not correct it :bonk: and our NOA2 went MISSING months later. :crying::angry: Even worse, getting a copy of the NOA2 can take up to 6 months and cost $340...just so you can turn around and send it right back to USCIS with your AOS petition. :o

LUCKILY for us the misdirected letter was returned to USCIS and only because of this it was resent out again to our (finally) corrected address.

If you call USCIS, I suggest getting the persons name and id number, they rattle it off fast, so ask them to repeat it and write it down along with the time and date that you called. The sort of service you get when you call is pot luck, if they hang up on you...or worse, you may regret not having this information. If you change your address get a reference number! Or do it online yourself at their website if you can get your case number. If you need to change your address and do, then USCIS will send you an address change confirmation letter in the mail...if you do not get this letter call them again.

Congratulations to you and your SO and Best of Luck with your journey!

I am so happy to receive so many suggestions and replies for my post. I finally managed to see the receipt number on the back of the check, and checked our case on the USCIS website, but something really weird, cos our envelop was sent on the 6th of June, and a return receipt was received on the 10th, and the envelop was received on the 9th June, however, we I checked on the USCIS website, it says that our case staus is received and pending, and it says that it was received on the 25th June, and they sent the notice to us on that date. So, I don't understand, where our case was before the 25th June?? How can I know if our case is touched??

When you log in to the USCIS site and enter you case number there will be a date, that date is the last time your file was "touched" or scanned into the system, when that date changes you've been touched.

:crying: It seems like the whole VSC is off for the summer. We sent our I-129F in 6/12 and it was signed for on the 13th. I was hoping a 10 day turnaround at the most but now we at 3 weeks. My fiancee was telling me to be patient and now she's getting worried too. I called the toll free number and was told I couldn't discuss my case until 4 weeks have elapsed. I hope the rest of the process will go smoother and faster.
