I found residential backroads. I cut my commute down from 12 miles to 8 miles

No bus/train where I'm going though, not unless I'm willing to train/bus out to Secaucus first, the whole system is set up to go to and from NYC, it sux

Its also extremely expensive if you do the Secaucus transfer onto another NJ line. They wanted $17 to get to Parsippany from there...

we are just so lucky that hubby can take the work van home.. no need for a 2nd car now and they pay the gas for the work van

well just to work and back every day is about 40 miles for hubby.. so that adds up gas wise... good thing we have a car that is fairly good on gas but now it is even better because we don't pay for the gas...

God-damn. I never got to finding out the price, the time I'd spend was bad enough.

Parsippany is easy to get to unless it's rush hour, then fuhggeddaboutit.

That whole surcharge for the Newark Airport is a rip too... Even if you're getting on the stop immediately before you've got to spend $7.50.

You're paying for the convenience. I love that stop. Saving me the hassle of finding a place to park alone makes it worth it.

But of course I get on at Edison/New Brunswick so I get to ride for a while too :P

We vanpool (rent van from the bus company). This saves me $200 a month in gas. Woot!!!!

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

There is more to life than gas - though living in the wonderful, exciting, cosmopolitan metropolis that I do there are plenty of jobs available where an extra $20 won't break the bank.

Also, I can take the bus or ride the bus to work, should I so desire.

 If you're lucky the sky in Los Angeles is blue 3 days out of 7.

Other days you can open your door and take in a big lungful of brown haze.

You lived somewhere hellish in the Inland Empire though, didn't you?

It's always sunny on the westside (except when there's fog)
