That was awesome Mike, I mean, indeed, they set a date for the emergency approval for June 9th. So we have to keep an eye out for Thursday, 'cus if they do go for the emergency approval, we'll have our new form on June 9th indeed!

I am not sure if this was posted in this thread or not, and I am sorry if they already did, because I am not going to brows thru 60 pages. This actually gives me hope. It seems that they are requesting the approval of the new form by June 9, 2006. It also sounds like it might be done by e-file. Tell me what you think???

That's most likely accurate unless they turn the emergency approval down and don't pass it, although with all the people calling and being furious I doubt they'd do that so stay tuned folks! June 9th seems to be the new D day. :D

This was a GREAT find. Where did you see something about possible e-file? I guess if the approval is by June 9, the next question is how/when will they provide it to us? It's seems unlikely the person whose name is at the end would know this (since she is the internal contact for the approval of the form) but I hope someone calls her and tries to find out more!

FANTASTIC.

For me, this is the first piece of news that gives me true hope that this mess will be cleaned up shortly.

Did anyone else notice that it *appears* as if they are going to charge another $170? I doubt they will and I really don't care of that's the case but it sure looked that way.

If all we had to do was download a form, fill it out and send it back email, that would be amazing.

I knew it! Really. I knew something good was comming today. Thanks, Mike!!!!!

As the other member I only missed the possible e-file.

If you guys think about dates, it all makes sense. February was a few days shorter. June 9th will be 180 days after the law was signed.

And they request this form to be valid from June 9th to December 9th, which is how long an emergency release can go for.

I think they will approve it. It´s not even our request.. It´s Dhs´ request!

June 9th.... I don´t even care about the World Cup anymore!

Oh, you´re right.

It says that the form was designed for e-filing.

Let´s see how will that work.

As a webdeveloper I can say it´s very easy to design and keep the data.

A good programmer manage that in within a week.

Anyways, about the fee, I think they didn´t release that information only for us who have submitted the form already, so it works for the petitioners-to-be also.

They didn´t release any statement about how we´ll have to proceed. And I don´t think they will until the form is approved. That makes sense to me..

Let´s see.

Does anyone know anything about OMB?

[sarcasm] Paging americanwoman to the IS YOUR WIFE THE SAME ONCE IN THE USA??? thread. I think you're the "INDEPENDENT FEMINIST" type the OP was refering to. Good luck with that attitude problem. [/sarcasm]

Can we please please please please please please please please save the critique of American womanhood and/or feminism for the Off Topic forum? I'm an American woman and a feminist and I'm going through the same bureaucratic nonsense as everyone else here. The topical immigration forums (fora?) need to remain supportive for everyone trying to bring a loved one to the U.S., and that kind of talk makes me feel extremely unwelcome, especially when it is said in an overtly hostile context. I realize that there are people here who have sought a partner overseas because of their views about American women as wives, but I am just coming to this thread to check and see what people heard about their petitions today, and really don't want to deal with that stuff right here.

People are tense right now, some might be a bit oversensitive, and some might mouth off a little--that will happen and I think it would be a bit weird if it didn't. But I really don't see why we can't at least cope without resorting to personal attacks based on nationality or gender.

As for my petition, no news, but I think that's to be expected...I'm way behind any of you in line. Will continue to sit tight and remain watchful for any sign of life from the Service Centers.

I saw the sarcasm tag all right...I just didn't want people in their excitable states of mind to take the sentiment out of the tag and and start a gender angst parade.

We wouldn't want to get distracted from keeping our eye on those Service Centers!

I am not a practicing attorney. I have a law degree and I passed the bar exam, but am not admitted to practice because I got a job in legal publishing and haven't gotten around to applying for my license yet. Publishing is great, but it does not make you qualified to give legal advice. So I don't. I just want to get married to my fella, which is why I'm here! If you need legal help, seek the advice of a licensed attorney.

I had posted this and seen it, but I guess I was so excited that a new form already in draft form that I forgot to read the heading and went straight to what had changed.

Btw, it does seem like it will be e-fillable, which would be fantastic for us all, since we can all send them straight with no further delays waiting for Fedex or whatever.
