- an option is to marry in France and file a K-3 when I return

A better option is to marry in France and file the I-130 in Paris. :)

Paris is still accepting I-130s from non-resident USCs.

I think we all need to calm down here.

I think the transfers made have nothing to do with IMBRA.

And you have missed a really important thing here. Aussie posted today an article written by an AILA lawyer that was in contact with USCIS and stating that their deadline is around June 6th to get things going again.

And most important even, today was posted a new draft of I-129F containing IMBRA info ON it, which means they have the new I-129F ready, awaiting the notice to get going, and remember we discussed seeing an notice for an emergency reviewing of a new I-129F? I think we´re ver close from getting the new form to the petitioners, meaning they are very close to get things going again. I doubt it will take months now, ´cus they know (and there´s been A LOT of complaints) how it´s affecting petitioners and beneficiaries.

I think before June is over everyone will be sending the new I-129F back to USCIS. Let´s stay positive that this is what´s gonna happen, and keep calling and keep writing and keep gathering info and making them speed it up!

Americanwoman, in regards for the info you got on waiting still months for the translations, the law itself says that they´ll have time to start doing those and at first it will only be handed out the copy in English. Also, what´s holding petitions is the I-129F, which is filled by the USC, meaning it doesn´t have to be translated at all.

I think people are bothered because they are being transferred to a center that is slower than the one we were at, regardless of it being connected to IMBRA or not. Yes, we will likely get something next week to check off whether we are IMBRA-related or not, but that doesn't change that my center's processing time went from looking at file from Feb. 20 to looking at files from Feb. 2.

I still think a sign of movement is welcome, but I am wary of having been sent to California.

The immigration thingy I got in the mail was my NOA1 from the VSC. At least now I have a case number and can keep track of their butts.

Having a NOA1 is better than not having a NOA1, that's what I always say.

Off to get my timeline on!

I am not a practicing attorney. I have a law degree and I passed the bar exam, but am not admitted to practice because I got a job in legal publishing and haven't gotten around to applying for my license yet. Publishing is great, but it does not make you qualified to give legal advice. So I don't. I just want to get married to my fella, which is why I'm here! If you need legal help, seek the advice of a licensed attorney.

The IMBRA only affects individuals who have filed for a K1 previously, or has met through an international marriage broker (online services may be included). It does not apply to individuals who first met in person and have never filed for a K1 before.

The problem is that it applies to everyone who filed after March 6 because the law that went into effect on that date requires additional information from every single petitioner who filed on or after that date. So while in theory it is meant to protect foreign fiances who met their USC through a marriage broker, and possibly through an online service, it does affect everyone else going through the process. If it didn't those who filed through Vermont after March 6 would already have their NOA2s and those whose files had already been approved and didn't meet through a marriage broker would not have had their approvals recalled.

Checked the site again, they have moved the notice for the new I-129F from 60-day notice to 30-day notice. Since it´s on emergency it might come into play before the next 30 days, worst case scenario being July 1st we´ll have the form ready and rolling.

No. I am sure that all we´ll have to do is fill this new form and send it, which will then be substituted with the old form filed. It´s going to work as an RFE would.

Laura, I see you are having a calm day. How do you do that? Please tell me. I have never been so on edge in my entire life. I am completely freaked out due to the lack of information. Can't sleep. Can't eat. Can't talk to anyone about it because they do not understand. I rarely drink and picked up beer on the way home from work tonight. Can't sleep without Ambien because my mind is racing. Our situation is different from most because the processing time in the US is the SHORTEST part of our proces since we will have to file a waiver in Mexico to forgive a previous visa overstay - this part takes close to 8 months. Please please please tell me how you calmed down today and send some of your calming vibes my way!
