My Details: CR-1 Interview Montreal August 4

Alrighty so I finally have the date for my interview and I just want to start getting things together. I've been trying to search to see what comes next but I haven't really seen anything. So if anyone can chime in with what goes on or what I need please feel free.

Medical - I'm guessing this is still done and must be done. I'm also guessing I can't book it until I get something in the mail about the interview. Do I still need to have passport pictures done and brought to the doctor?

Money - Am I done paying for everything or are they gonna be collecting money from me in Montreal for something?

Affidavit of Support - Since the one we sent in was up to and including 2006, should I redo it again to include 2007 and bring it along?

Copies - I'm bringing copies of what I have and what I don't have copies of I'm not bringing. Sounds easy enough doesn't it? LOL

Anything else I should be aware of that's coming?

You have to buy the Expresspost envelope, the large regional one is required. If you are outside of ON or PQ then you will need the large national one. I believe it may be cheaper at the Consulate but I believe the difference is a dollar or two. If you don't want the hassle buy it at Canuck Post. A clear plastic accordian folder to bring your copies of documents is needed as heavy bag will not be allowed in, some folks have goten in with manila accordian folders so I don't know. I saw people with shopping bags (plastic and burlap) being admitted though and a few folks had valises but I think they had other business at the Consulate.

Some places allow the medicals to be schedules without the letter and others don't. Call ahead and check. You will need passport photos for your medical and for the consulate. Get extras or do what I did, get out your digital camera and photoshop a half dozen and print them out on your inkjet. It's very cheap, even if you go and get prints at Shoppers Drug, the advantage of taking your own photos is that you can choose the one that you like and if you don't keep taking them until you get one that you like. The US, unlike Canada allows you to take your own pics and the info is on the web on how to do it. You will need the most current IRS extract (2007). You should bring at least one copy of everything that you submitted, just in case. If you sent in originals then they will have it already. If you sent in copies then you must present the original document for verification.

That's about it and of course, good luck.

Also, you have already paid everything, nothing to pay in Montreal

Thanks for reminding me Trailmix. There are no more fees to pay unless, of course, you get a parking ticket.

LOL I'm too smooth for a parking ticket :)

Thanks for the info. I remembered the expresspost mailer of course, though I'll be my bold self and ask if I can pick it up LOL As for more passport pics I'll just let the guy at CVS worry about getting me 6 pics. I scared him good the first time and they turned out great LOL Never thought of calling the doctor to see about the medical. My guess is I'll have to have the interview letter with me when I go to see the doctor so I'll just wait till I have it.

Thank gawd I'm done paying! It's bad enough my interview is on a holiday weekend in ontario. The price of everything doubles if not triples.

Are we there yet? LOL
