Hey VJ friends,

Just wanted to let you all know, Greivin and I had our interview in Costa Rica yesterday, and everything went well, WE HAVE BEEN APPROVED! The wait was about three hours at the embassy, but of course, worth every minute of it. Greivin was so nervous that when they were scanning his fingerprints, they had to do it twice cause of how much he was shaking. :blush: The main recommendation I have for everyone is if you are using a co-sponsor for the I-134, include proof of their citizenship, like a copy of their passport. I didn't see anything in the forms asking for this, but it makes sense they would need it. We got very lucky and were approved without it, but spent more of the actual interview talking about my co-sponsor to see if I could prove he was a citizen. Sheesh. Other than that, the only question we had from the consular was how we met. We told him I was studying in Costa Rica and he asked me about school and what I was studying, and that was it. Otherwise, it was just signing forms, doing fingerprints, and giving them copies of everything they wanted.

It's been a crazy ride, as you all know, and I wish everyone else strength during the process. I am in Costa Rica now, and next week, Greivin and I will fly home to Seattle together. We couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone on VJ for your support, guidance, kind words, and inspiration. This experience has been a MILLION times more bearable because of all of you!

01-24-2008 = Sent I-129F to CSC

01-29-2008 = NOA1 Issued

05-28-2008 = NOA2 (125 days after NOA1)

06-02-2008 = NOA2 Hardcopy received; NVC received petition

06-04-2008 = NVC sent package to Costa Rica

06-10-2008 = Embassy received

06-13-2008 = Picked up Packet 3

06-25-2008 = Interview (28 days after NOA2)

07-05-2008 = Home to the U.S. together!

01-02-2009 = AOS processing resumed

01-16-2009 = Service Request filed for EAD (90 days with no news)

01-27-2009 = EAD and AP approved (102 days after NOA1's)

03-12-2009 = AOS Interview, APPROVED!

REMOVING CONDITIONS TIMELINE:

02-18-2011 = Sent packet to CSC

02-22-2011 = NOA1 Issued

03-21-2011 = Biometrics

04-26-2011 = APPROVED!

Look at the thread "US Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador" in the Latin American subforum to see the monkeyshines that FOUR of us are going through this week and next. I fervently recommend that the U.S. fiance(e) be available in person for the FIRST interview in (probably) any Latin American country.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
