I resent passport photos last week per the RFE request. Passport photos were included with the original application, so I don't know if they didn't like them or I have a lazy adjudicator who doesn't like where they were included in the application. USPS confirms delivery to CSC on Saturday, June 21.

I called USCIS mis-Information line to inquire if they had been received. The officer advised it takes up to 30 days before USCIS will acknowledge receipt of the information. Fine. I look on line while I am on the phone with him, and see that my case status says that an RFE was issued on June 17, 2008. Hmmm... When I called USCIS before, they said they issued the RFE on June 3. I received the hardcopy and it is dated June 12. Ok, it takes ~10 days to generate the paper RFE after it is entered into the system. So, I inquire about the RFE date. He said he shows an RFE on June 3 and on June 17. So, a second RFE is incoming.

I rechecked my I-130 submission package AGAIN and everything they request is in there from the I-130 forms, the birth cert, passport photos, divorce degree, marriage cert, etc. I am thinking that somewhere inbetween CSC to Chicago and back to CSC, all the attachments got detached from the original application. Wouldn't that just be wonderful?

Based upon when USCIS shows an RFE, when their website logs it in (the first which USCIS says is the 3rd, was listed as the 12th on the case status), they haven't even mailed the RFE yet and I am moving on Sunday. I have changed the address with USCIS but it takes them up to 45 days to change it in their system.

The RFE timeline goes like this:

June 3: USCIS says they issued RFE

June 12: USCIS website says RFE was issued

Jun 16: Received hardcopy of RFE requesting passport photos (dated June 12)

Jun 17: USCIS says they issued another RFE

Jun 17: USCIS website says RFE was issued (I didn't pay much attention to this as I thought it was just a date delay)

Jun 21: USPS confirmation of passport photos

So, the real question is, am I missing an RFE from June 3? Is there really another RFE in the system that I haven't received yet? Perhaps there are 3 RFEs in the system (June 3, June 12, June 17)?????

Wow. This I don't know. You can't be the only one though so maybe try to find out others that this happened to outside the Canada form? This sucks though. The website bothers me because it's incredibly slow to update. When I found out I had an RFE on my application, it was THREE weeks after it had been issued and sent to my lawyer. All they wanted was my long form birth certificate, but the website didnt update for three weeks after it was issued.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

You have no idea Spirit.

Delicia, here's what happened to Mom. I sent her I-130 in when we were in Maine and as an IR5 everything was moving along nicely except for some reason they thought that she was going the AOS route. I thought that I filled out the I-130 incorrectly and my copies were lost when my brother moved. I filled out the I-824, paid the fee ($185 or $190) and waited. Pop was gearing up for Montreal but his case was delayed until Mom's was ready. After numerous letters and more than a few e-mails I was informed by e-mail that Mom had been switched to CP and waited for some idea when the DS230 was coming. I sent another e-mail and was told that her I-824 had not been acted on and to wait a bit longer. Seven months later we finally moved on to the next step. I figured no biggee this kind of thing can't happen too often. next came dealing with the NVC. Mom and Pop don't have b/c and the records have been destroyed so now affidavits are required. I sent in Pop's and no problem. Mom's is lost. I send in another one. That's lost too. I send in a third one, no sign of it either. Fourth time's the charm, in the mail it goes. My brother got them sworn for free, so it's only an inconvenience. Finally, the NVC finds it and off to Montreal we go. At the consulate, there's no sign of any of the four affidavits. Fortunately, I had three copies so things work out. After waiting 18 mos. my FOIA request comes in and I look over a copy of the I-130 and lo and behold, I filled it out correctly in the first place. :ranting:

June 3: USCIS says they issued RFE

I don't have any experience (thankfully) with RFE's from USCIS (only lots of experience with NVC).

I agree with the person who suggested you should post this in another forum where someone might have experienced something similar.

With NVC they will tell you what the RFE is for, I take it that is not the case with USCIS. I also wonder if the second RFE mentioned might just be a duplicate, it's exactly 2 weeks after June 3rd, maybe they auto send a reminder?

I called USCIS again a bit later this morning in hopes of speaking with someone at CSC rather than the national call center. I did get in touch with someone at CSC who informed me that only 1 RFE was issued and that was on June 17 (Funny, I have an RFE hardcopy dated June 12.). I couldn't seem to get that information through the officer's head, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. He kept repeating the same information: a RFE was issued on June 17th. I kept repeating that I had received an RFE dated June 12th. Anyway, finally he took my phone number and said someone would call me back.

I ran off to pick up my son at the airport (YAY!! I missed that monkey) and by the time we got back, the "supervisor" had called. The supervisor left a very long message advising that they show only 1 RFE in their system that was pending a response. So, I am a bit relieved.

Any, did I mention my son was here permanently now?? Me = happy. Screw USCIS.

I bet somebody at CSC decided to take off early for the day and just gave you an RFE instead of processing you.

Sounds like CSC hasn't changed much since I went through them. I originally sent away to TSC but they weren't doing anything at the time, so they transfered to CSC. That took months. Why they didn't send it to the northern service centers who were cranking out NOA2's in a week or less, I don't know.

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed.

On June 27, 2008, we received your response to our request for evidence. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. You should expect to receive a written decision or written update within 60 days of the date we received your response unless fingerprint processing or an interview are standard parts of case processing and have not yet been completed, in which case you can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case is at our CALIFORNIA SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

I got the above case status update today. It confirms that there was only 1 RFE and the people at the national call center are worthless. At least I am a bit relieved now.

Glad to hear it.

I had quite a few conversations with people at USCIS, when I was attempting to document my U.S. citizenship. Of the many times both my Sister and I spoke to them, there was only 1 person - that my Sister spoke to - that actually knew what they were talking about.

I believe the people at the USCIS phone center must have a horrible set up in terms of access to accurate information and support from more experienced people.

One of the USCIS people (with a very, very thick Brooklyn acccent  ) told me that if you don't speak to an officer then you are speaking to some outsourced operator who who knows very little about the process. I thought they were planning to abandon outsourcing but it sounds like the USCIS folks haven't.

Delicia I'm glad you're a bit relieved, every little bit helps.

I believe the people at the USCIS phone center must have a horrible set up in terms of access to accurate information and support from more experienced people.

Guess what?

You know how I said I did Medicare customer service? Well, The Department of Health and Human Services (the department that oversees the Medicare program) was not my actual employer. Instead, Medicare customer service is outsourced to a contractor. So I was never a government employee, but an employee for a government services contractor.

The company I used to work for doing Medicare customer service also, at one time, had the contract for the USCIS call center.

Same company whose environment exacerbated my medical conditions, claimed to not be able to do anything about it, then fired me when I couldn't go back.

Figures that the USCIS call center reps don't know what they're talking about. Medicare wasn't a whole lot better.

(I did a damn good job, though! :D )
