Hi everyone. I'm planning to jumpstart my vaccinations already so that the issuance of the IR1 visa won't be delayed. I just got a call from my doctor. the Vaccination for the HPV (required) is P6,500. oh dear.. it's like buying a new ipod. I was just wondering if completing the vaccination is a prerequisite for the IR1 visa. I understand that for the K3 it isn't, i'm not sure about the IR1.

Hi there! I'm on K1..but when I had my medical appointment, I met someone on IR1. She got her vaccines at SLEC.

If you are less than 26 years old, you will be receive HPV vaccines. That's given 3 doses at 0, 2 and 6 months schedule, so you'll get 1 dose at SLEC. I heard HPV vaccine in the US costs $200. So it's still cheaper here.

Hi Daisy

Glad you're starting this process. Hope everything will go smoothly :) Good luck...

My husband is going to start this soon too so we decided that we will ask some questions from you just to clear up some confusions on our part here. I'm from the Phils and I don't have any recall of any vaccination taken, just wanna ask like how much is it for me to get those. Is there something I need to do before my physical examination? we understand how the IR 130 works but we're a bit confuse on what comes after that. Can you give us some pointers? Are you familiar with the I- 485 form? Is this we need to submit with the I-130 or this is done after I arrive in the US ...:) hopefully.

Any advise from you, like the steps you went through from the start of your application will be greatly appreciated.

Good luck your visa journey again :)

If you arrive on an IR(CR)1 visa you do not care about the I-485 as it will not apply to you ... If you arrive on K-3 then you do care as you will be required to submit this after arrival.

For IR(CR) visa, vaccinations can be done before or at the medical. For a K-3, no required vaccinations until the I-485, but you can do them before.

YMMV

hi chris-lei! does that mean i don't have complete the series of vaccinations before the visa is issued and hence would only have to receive one dose at the SLEC? (for the IR1 visa)

hi jamster0105. the vaccinations are required for the immigrant visa. for the nonimmigrant visa (k3) u don't have to take any vaccinations but u will have to when u get to the US. i have lots of pointers! but first off, do you have a passport already? if not, do u have two valid government issued photo IDS? if you do have 2 gov't IDs (these are ones that qualify: driver's license, voters registration ID, SSS ID, GSIS ID. postal ID and TIN ID are not accepted), then u can apply through an agency (i think the number is 713 000) and spare yourself of the headache of having to line up at the DFA at around 1 am (DFA only accepts 500 applicants a day. people line up as early as 11 pm). if you don't have at least two gov't issued IDs prepare the following: baptismal certificate (you can get that in the cuhrch where you were born), Nbi clearance, students permit to drive (u can get this in one day, no driving test required), certificate of attendance from the commission on filipino overseas for spouses of foreign nationals (this is required), transcript of records (college or high school) or high school/college year book.

if u have an email add, i can send u the outline i got (if u plan to pursue the IR1 visa) in order to reduce the processing time at NVC (which can take up to 3 months.. u can cut it down to 4 weeks).

Once you file the I-130 and I-129F, it helps to provide as many documents as possible. aside frmo correspondence, provide notarized affidavits from other people attesting to the authenticity of your relationship. =)

hope that helps! =)

btw jamster0105. SSS has suspended issuing IDs since last year. all they can provide u is a certificate that u applied for an ID.

Thank you soooo much for all of the helpful info daisy! You have helped us answer a lot of questions and it takes a little of the anxiety out of this whole process. Looks as if we will push back our start date until around late august, so that we can begin to prepare all of our documents. It also gives us at least another month of being together here in Thailand before we have to part ways...Thanks again!

I got started on my vaccines a week ago. I had MMR and HPV. Total cost for both vaccines? P8,200 minus the P400 the doctor charged for administration and consultation. OMg.. the HPV vaccine is sooo expensive! P6,500 just for the medicine (taken in three series). I already had my Td/tdap vaccine and chickenpox vaccine and booster 2 years ago so I don't think it'd be required to take it. What kind of certification should my doctor provide for the MMR and HPB vaccine?

you can ask the doctor who administered the Tdap, chicken pox, MMR and HPV vaccines to make a note/certfication that he gave you the vaccines. it can be an accomplished immunization record or any letter in a prescription pad. doctor's signature is the important thing there, plus the date. :)
