what is the NVC process

For a K1 Visa, not much happens at NVC. It just passes through briefly, gets a new case number, and gets sent to your embassy.

You can begin preparing for the Embassy stage of the process. Read about the Embassy and reviews of interviews for your particular country because each has it's own rules and quirks. You'll find that at the top of this page in the blue bar under the pictures of people. Many get a Packet 3 mailed from the Embassy with instructions on forms to file. You can get ahead of the game by figuring out those things in advance and doing them. Some can call and make their own appointment, while other countries make you wait to get a Packet 4 which is the interview date. The US citizen prepares the affidavit of support I-134 with supporting documentation at this time also. The foreign fiance prepares for the medical exam by gathering immunization records of previous injections or getting shots needed ahead of the medical appointment. The foreign fiance orders the police report required for his/her Embassy. Things move more quickly now.
