Depening on the size of it, it can take two weeks to heal. Right after the tattoo is done, your tattooist is going to cover the tattoo with cling foil and will ask you to leave it on for a couple of hours. The tattoo will still be bleeding for 3/4 hours. Take the cling foil off and wash it gently with a cloth (eventually with some mild soap) to prevent it from scabbing.

I usually leave the cling foil (not the same one LOL) on for a day or two and wash it every couple of hours to keep it nice and moist and to not get a big scab - the scab will hurt when you move around and eventually even crack (but that is really more when it comes to big pieces). I use a cream called Bepanthan, which is a antiseptic healing cream for nappy rash. I am not sure if you can get it where you live, but here in Europe it is the top product to put on tattoos. Aftera while, you tattoo will start peeling as well (like after a sun burn) - that means basically that it's alsmost healed.

You can shower without a problem. Just don't soak in a bath for hours or go for a swim. You also have to stay out of the sun for about four weeks.

I'm getting a blue flower (lotus) above my ankle. I made this in photo-shop for the tattooist, I'm sure his artistry will be better than mine lol.

When they say stay out of the sun... what do they mean? Say I want to go for a walk in my capris in the summer... is that a no no?

Well, the tattoo should not get any sun for four weeks. I would wear long pants on really sunny days.

Re the tattooed bride thing - each to their own. Usually bridal shops offer tattoo cover up kits as well.

I don't have any tattoos but for a long time I didn't find one I liked enough to have for my life. I'm kind of the same. I didn't want to be a tattoo bride. I'm married now but we still didn't have some kind of formal wedding ceremony. I think its the whole "ceremony" part I have the problem with. What does a person without a religion and denies convention and defies traditions do? Another story. Just imagine me trying to tell the CO that is the reason we didn't have a wedding "ceremony". Ack!

But just this year I decided I would like a lotus flower on the inside of my wrists. I haven't decided on the design or the color but I really like the shape of your flower. With the steam it would look good on your ankle. Personally I just want the petal portion of the lotus flower on the inside of my wrists.

I don't want flash though. I want something delicate and lovely like you pix. It has to be pretty for me to put it on.

So got it today instead lol. Hurt a heck of a lot more than I thought it would! Especially when he got near the ankle!

I have got my entire right leg tattooed .. ankel to 3/4 of my shin all the way around and I have two tattoos on the back of my left leg low to mid calf.
