Texas Real Estate Slump Lets Mexicans Take It Back

A rising peso and an economy growing faster than the U.S. have given some Mexicans the buying power to take advantage of the housing slump in Texas

If their currency is so strong and their economy is so great, why are they buying homes in Texas?

Why not stay in Mexico, the bestest strongest country in the world?

For the same reason all that Eurotrash is descending on Manhattan?

Because they recognize that is a mere blip in American economic strength and that they should grab these "deals" while they last!

In that case, now is not the time to buy - the real estate market hasn't bottomed out yet.

Yep... I guess that will just mean more Mexicans will be able to afford their own slice of the American dream...

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The bloggers at njrereport.com would love you.

Details, please!

They are mostly a bunch of men and women in their 30s to 50s, all or most have a very deep interest and knowledge base in finance and real estate and almsot all of them are extremely opinionated.

The belief that we have not yet hit bottom is a common one there. I believe it, because they clearly know (a lot) more than I do. They sneer at realtors and when one shows up, they can typically run rings around them.

Check it out.

ETA: I should add, the blog owner is a realtor, but also has an MBA and is an NAR contrarian ... so he isn't your typical realtor.

Must be easy for illegals to get home loans especially if you have a bank like WELLS FARGO who support them.

Your point about illegals was addressed earlier in the thread.

Quit being a dumbass.

Now this is bloody hard to believe!

ALL you need to buy land and a house is a valid visa (+ cash I assume)?

This makes no sense! What if this person will never be allowed back to US again - and they own a house?

From the original article, found via following the provided link:

The only requirement for foreigners purchasing residential and commercial property in the U.S. is a valid visa to enter the country, said Jose Cuellar, a realtor with Houston-based Cornerstone Mortgage Co. who caters to Mexican clients.

Wouldn't matter as long as they paid their taxes/mortgage. If they stopped either one, then the regular set of consequences would happen (eventual forclosure/siezure of the property). Many of these epople are already living here, so not being let back in wouldn't be much of a worry.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

I've seen this happen with some South Americans. They've had to sell. Still at profit.
