The K3 Visa Family Unification Process: How Is It Working for You? Questions from CIS Ombudsman's Teleconference on January 31, 2008

The following are questions discussed during the January 31, 2008 teleconference and the answers received from USCIS.

1. Administrative Closures of I-129Fs? – One caller noted that USCIS’ National Customer Service Center is providing different information on the I-130/I-129F process. One customer service representative stated that the I-129F is administratively closed after the I-130 is approved. Another representative stated that I-129Fs are not closed and USCIS is continuing to process the I-129F. Is USCIS administratively closing the I-129F application if the I-130 has been approved? Can USCIS provide clarification on this process?

USCIS Response on April 30, 2008: USCIS has been administratively closing the I-129F upon approval of the I-130. USCIS, however, is currently reviewing the I-129F/K-3 process.

I have chekced this site about once a week for months now and I see that there are finally responses from uscis..dated 4/30

So these are the definitive (ha ha) answers about the rumors that the k3 is really not an option anymore??? I dont know about you guys, but Im still a little confused. So it all depends on what gets approved first and IF they decide to close it o not, since there are some ppl who have had their k3 processed as normal. :shrug:

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. I would like to add that our 129f is the only one being "touched" thus far..

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

A lot has changed since January. VSC seems to be processing K-3s now.

Sent I-130 to VT 25-Oct-2007

I-130 Moved to California 6-August-2008

My petition has been in 3 states (1, twice) in 9 months!

Rec'd by CSC 8/9, touched 8/11, 8/12, 8/15, 8/20, 8/25

Approved Tuesday, 25-August-2008

10 months since we mailed the petition

Rec'd NVC 9/3, Invoice Generated 9/10, DS-3032 emailed 9/11.

Rec'd AOS invoice 9/15, paid online 9/15, Accepted as Paid 9/18, mailed I-864EZ 9/19

IV Invoiced 9/18, paid online 9/19, Accepted as paid 9/22

DS-230 sent 10/2

Case complete @NVC 10/8 - 11 months, 1 week and 6 days

Interview in Montreal December 18, 2008 - scheduled 1 year, 1 week and 3 days after the start of our journey. Takes place 1 year, 1 month, 3 weeks and 2 days after the start...

[X] Passed [ ] Failed Interview

Thursday, April 2, 2009 Activated Visa - 1 year, 5 months, 1 week and 1 day

I agree and VSC is pushing them out, but these answers were given in APRIL

VSC seems to be doing something, but what is that something only VSC knows.

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!
