at this point in ur case i do not believe it would be of any help to contact an elected official. Many, many ppl apply for visas each year and ur post does not indicate any problems with your case

I waited until six months of a/p before i contacted anyone and i still have received no real help

If you do run into a snag in ur case it might be useful at that point to contact someone for assistance.

I don't think it would hurt to establish a relationship with your congressmen so in the event that you would need them, they would be familiar with your case and ready to help quickly. Chances are you won't need them, but if you did, you'd be one step ahead of the game. Also, since you will have several steps to go through in the future, it wouldn't hurt for the congressmen to know your case from the beginning.

Good Luck!!

Is suffering really necessary? Yes and no. If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you as a human being, no humility, no compassion. You would not be reading this now. It can help. Most have a staffer that handles immigration issues.

hi Friend,

sorry being late to answer i was not online for some time. As to your question about congressman , we didnt contact any senator or congressman, i dont see there's an urge to do so as long as you know your case is complet and without problems, Howevr you can inform your congressman via email and explain him that you may need his help in the next few days concerning your fiancé visa, but dont get him involved right now directly with the consulate i think it's not good caus the consulate may think ther's something suspicious with your case that you fear.

As to documents you need to provide to your fiancé, he should get a notarized 134 form affidavit of support , even if they dont realy ask for it but just in case.+3 last tax return + a letter from your employer stating your job and your annual income :see guide for that. you'll need also to send him another letter of intend stating that you still support the129F Visa for your fiancé and if possible also letter from your parents or relatives. Copy of NOA1 AND NOA2 , all original documents you submitted with your 129F.like divorce decrees , birth certifcate, proof of meeting in persons. Print some of your exchanged emails and chat logs , if ur fiance has saved them and can print them it's fine.

Good luck , evrything will be fine at the end:) .

i didnt read all the answers BUT it is ALWAYS good to have your state rep on your side and ready for whatever u need them for. Do this ahead of time and not after a problem. They will send the forms you let them know all about your case and let them know IN CASE you need their help. They can also send a short email right before your interview to show they have concern and interest in your case, and they can be quickly available after the interview if it doesnt go well. They can not work miracles but nice to know they are there for you.

Your Senators and Congressman can not get involved in your case without written permission from you. Usually their website has a form you can download and submit to authorize the office to make an inquiry on your behalf (not just for immigration, but any issue).

In order to turn around a decision to deny the visa at the interview, you must act quickly. Some suggest that establishing a relationship with the immigration liason working for one of your representatives in Washington DC will allow you to act immediately. It's like an insurance policy. Hopefully you won't need to persue it further.

How much success you will have with your elected official will depend largely on the knowledge and skills of their staff. You have three representatives- two US Senators and One US Congressman- it is worth contacting each office and selecting the one who believe will work hardest on your case if need be.

Yes, this was our thinking at the time around our interview. i called all of our Congressmen & one Senator in New Jersey (where i was living at the time). Only the Senator agreed to take some information from me and seemed helpful. The other offices not so much. i agree with what others have posted... i certainly can't hurt to have your information in their file, and it is always better to be prepared...:thumbs:

Good luck!!

Smooth sailing for you both,

hz

It's not a bad idea at all to contact them. I would sign the consent form and give them a run down of your relationship. Include any red flags you have and evidence you have concerning the red flags. I would simply tell them that you have heard of many couples that went through this consulate that had ligitimate relationships that were denied for no reason. It might even be a good idea to have your representative call them and verify they have your case. This will at least let them know that you have assistance, and perhaps they won't be as hasty to deny based on their mood of the day. Hopefully it will all go easy and quick.

BTW, if there are problems your representative can not speed up the process, nor can they guarantee an approval. They do however help keep the case from falling between the cracks and being ignored.
