Hey- first and foremost thank you so much for taking time out to create the NVC process flowchart. It makes it all a lot more simple and we are both studying it:)- I have a question. I received an email from NVC the other day and it has me a little puzzled  :

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The NVC has received the Agent of Choice selection. The Immigrant Visa

Application (DS 230) processing fee bill will be sent to the designated

agent on the case. The fee must be paid according to the instructions

before the instruction packet will be sent.

My question is this- the processing fee bill, is that the $70 or the $400 or $470 all together right away?- also, is there other methods to make that payment other than doing it online? (such as sending a money order etc?)

My Visa journey:

Married August 10, 2007 in NYC

I-130 mailed to VSC via Chicago: March 13, 2008

NOA1 received: March 24, 2008

NOA2 received: May 22, 2008 (Approved yaaaaay!!!)

DS3032 choice of agent generated: June 14, 2008

Mailed Choice of Agent: June 14, 2008 (and emailed the NVC as well with my Choice Of Agent hoping to speed up things a bit)

Hubby received IV bill: June,2008

DS3032 entered the system: June 23, 2008

Thought my child needed the same papers as I did so we petitioned for him and decided to let his papers reac NVC before taking further action, but discovered he is indeed eligible for U.S citizenship- 7 months wasted arrrrrghhh! NOW WE ARE IN A HURRY! :)

Hello Cory,

Since the NVC received your Choice of Agent, they will now send you the visa fee bill which is the $400 one. The $70 is for the AOS which you should be receiving shortly. If you don't want to pay and generate these bills and forms online, you can just wait for the NVC to send them to you and you can pay them using a cashier's check or money order. You can also follow James' shortcuts to generate your own forms and not have to wait for the NVC to send them. It's all up to you.

Is the IV bill payment $400 is the actual payment for the visa on the passport?

Yes, it is $400 for IV bill fee. If you have IIN and access to online payment system, you can pay there once it is invoiced which is the fastest method. Good luck (F)

not really that is the payment for the application for the visa...your significant other will also have to pay other fees when the medical and interview times come....in other words the 400 plus the 70 for the Aff of Supp isnt the end of the fees....
