Hello,

Somehow I guess have missed this step in what I have read about the I-130 processing.

Transfer Notice Reads:

Preliminary processing of the above application or petition has been completed, and it has been transferred to the USCIS office at: (TUKWILA/Seattle)

The office will notify you when they schedule an interview on the application or petition. Any further inquiries should be made to that office.

Questions/Why I am confused:

1. The processing times for Seattle don't show I-130 ????

2. Does Seattle schedule an interview for ME in Seattle or for my husband in Mexico?

3. If the interview is for ME in Seattle, is it because they need more info to make a decision about our application?

4. Is this normal? / Is a transfer notice "bad"?

I am so confused! I hope to hear from you soon! Thank you!

Sounds like they want a interview with you the U.S. citizen "Petitioner" Is there anything unusual with your case and filing of the petition??

They meaning USCIS Seattle wants more information, so make sure you have a copy of your petition and the things you sent with the petition.

In this process there is nothing normal . Be calm and polite, and answer them in short to the point answers. And look them in the eye.

Seattle will not schedule the interview in Mexico once petition is approved. Good Luck!!!

1) There is something about the petition that they need to ask the Petitioner about, NOT beneficiary.

2) Petitioner (US Citizen) is being interviewed at the field office.

3) YES

4) Not necessarily.

This comes up on VJ from time to time. I-130 is processed by service center, so wont be listed on the field office processing page.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I remember seeing 2 recent and similar cases here at VJ with the petitions being transferred to local office for an interview, and if you dig deep enough you should be able to find them. What was recommended for them is to prepare paperwork that would prove that the relationship is true.

This sucks more than anything else has ever sucked before.

Thank you for your replies! I have two more questions/topics:

1. If everything goes ok with my interview, where does the I-130 go after that? Back to California?

2. If anyone reads this who has had this kind of interview (local office for more info), I would like to hear from you about your experience.

Thank you all again!

hi , I may be of help.. actually I filed my I-130 in April 2007, and they transferred my case in November 2007...

To answer your question, I received a "summons" to show up at the local office on February 21, 2008 around January 2008. I also brought my parents too (everyone was dressed up in suit and tie) to attend the interview. I brought my 3 backpacks full of information (copies of I-129F, I-130, and other evidence) Even my mom and dad said I had prepared a lot because I always keep up-to-date on many of the immigration forums online. I also submitted the pictures to him of the time we spent together (with both parents and family at the wedding party too). (a couple of albums full). The official didn't ask for any additional evidence when he spoke to us. At first, he was really mean because he thought I had brought lawyers with me. The whole interview didn't last more than a few minutes. When I sat down, he asked "who are those two people with you?". After he knew it was my parents, he started asking them questions ("Have you seen her before?, "Have you seen her family?", "Did you attend the wedding ceremony?" (I produced the pictures, but he just glanced at them). He then said that he just wanted to verify because there has been lots of fake marriages from China and that just because my parents were here, that was a big bonus and that we will get the approval notice within 2-3 weeks after that. He said that everything looks good and we just shook hands and left. Now I learned a lesson from that interview to always get something in writing but I was nervous because normally people don't get transferred to the local office. He had a big folder in front of him with (I'm assuming) the letters I had sent to various senators and congressmen (it was a big folder). His name was "John Tu" from the 8th floor. After a few weeks, I made another infopass and also walked up to the "fraud" office, but the guard wouldn't let me in because he said that I was supposed to make an appointment. The infopass appointment that I made was on the 1st floor, so he wouldn't let me talk to John Tu about the situation. The guard mentioned that it wasn't really that fast, and should take about 2 months to receive your notice.

To answer your question simply, yes, they asked questions concerning the validity of our marriage.
