do i need ORIGINAL 2007 tax return?

I've been told by a visa attorney that a copy of the '07 return is okay. I have tax transcripts for the 3 years prior sent to my wife in Thailand.

Has anyone had a problem with a copy of the current year tax return?

Obviously, the original is in the IRS vortex somewhere...

Tax transcripts are the best thing you can submit! Copies are fine. You can even fax or scan them for the interview.

The IRS has your originals, you don't, so copies are not only fine, they're your only option, other than waiting many weeks for tax transcripts.

I didn't send the optional transcripts of prior years at all, but I did send a copy of the certified mail receipt from my 2007 return. The instructions for the I-130, as well as the I-864/I-864-A, hint some form of evidence that you actually filed your return may be required. You probably don't need proof of mailing, but it can't hurt.

Yes, a copies of it is just fine. Mine was just all copies of ITR 2007 and W2'S (2005,2006,2007) they only need a proof.

you can even have the IRS fax the transcript over to you.

Since I efile my taxes, I just printed out my forms and attached the W2's. The US Embassy in Bangkok accepted them with no problem.

I just returned from the IRS office. All the computers are down. So not only am I out of luck, the entire USA is broken! lol

$20 to park and an hour wait... they never told us the computer system was down until AFTER we waited and got our numbers called.
