Thank you guys!

So does anyone have any idea if a K1 or a K3 visa is faster in regards to Sudan? I searched and found 1 person who had a terribly hard time with the K1 since it had to be done through Cairo. And I found another person who was filing the K3, I don't know what became of him though.

It seems though that K3 is the more direct route to go all and all (no hassle in 'proving' your relationship, you come automatically with a green card, and it seems it takes about the same amount of time as a K1)...I don't know if it helps but my parents came here (immigrated) from Sudan in 1990...and then we all became naturalized citizens (my parents and I since I was born in Sudan, my siblings were born on US grounds though)...and several of my direct relatives came to america and are citizens/perm residents or were able to successfully secure a visit visa...will any of this make a difference? My parents came as doctors and became very respected/settled here for years but I want to try and do this on my own without my parent intervention so just wondering.

Thanks guys again!

I have no answers to offer, but want to welcome you to VJ. I also think that you should read the guides at the top of the page to gain more insight about the visa types. I am no expert, but the K3 does not give an automatic green card upon arrival. I believe you are thinking of the IR1-CR1 visa (or is it CR1-IR1?). But it would benefit you greatly to study the guides and read archived threads. I am so sure you will get better answers than mine, however. But welcome to our world.

I would HIGHLY recommend reading the guides.

I believe all cases for Sudanese citizens get transfered to Cairo.

K1: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide

Fiance visa. This is generally the fastest because if you have met your fiance within the last 2 years you do not need to wait to file. Once your fiance enters on the K1 you would need to adjust status to get the greencard (after marriage).

K3: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide

Spousal visa that allows the beneficiary to enter the US and then apply to adjust status once in the US.

CR1: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1

Spousal visa, generally longer to do but the beneficiary gets the greencard upon entering the US. No need to adjust status.

So, I guess what you need to do is decide which one you want to do. In all cases you will need to provide the evidence of a bonafide relationship at the interview. This whole process is all up to you. There is nothing you or anyone can do to influence the process, immigration moves at its own punishing pace.

Yeah you would need to provide evidence for all but I think the degree asked for the K1 is excessive. But thanks for the responses, yeah I meant the IR1-CR1 visa. Thank you guys!

Welcome, I also was the only active member here ( with Sierra Leone ) since 2006 but we recently have another one representing Sierra Leone here.

I am also like you going through an embassy in another country and bonded with others going through the same embassy, even though we all

had SO's from different countries the embassy craziness was what held us together.

It may be helpful to search for others going through your embassy in Cairo in the mena forum, there you can get a good idea of the current flow

of the pattern with Cairo, also pertaining to which type of visas they push through faster. That is an estimated pattern only as each case differs.

I don't understand what you mean when you say that the amount of evidence required for the K1 is excessive compared to the marriage visas. For all the visas you provide the same stuff for the proof of relationship at the interview: pictures, phone logs, airline boarding passes, etc, etc. They do not discriminate at the consulate level. There are plenty of people who apply for the K3 or CR1 who are denied or told to come back with more evidence because they have no proof of their ongoing relationship. In some cases the consulate wants to see stuff in the couples name (bank accounts, leases, insurance) which is not required for the K1.

Very true, even though you are married you have to proof it is a bona fide marriage and not a marriage for immigration benefits.

For Sudanese friends please account with additional time to the hole processes in the us (USCIS + NVC) due to the very long and complicated extra security check called "Administrative processing" which will be kickedoff after the visa interview in cairo which ACCORDING to the Department of State it might/will take some MONTHS and often YEARS to clearfy since the hole case will be send BACK to the us again to the Department of State where the security check "Administrative processing" coordinated. if both of you in the us rightnow TIP: go through the Adj. of status path it is shorter than the embassy road in cairo and you wont be seaparated from each other otherwise I would assume that the K1 will be shorter. goodluck
