While reading some fellow VJ members stories and seeing how difficult it is for them,I am getting the impression that the USCIS could care less that families are broken apart.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!
December 23,2010-Work authorization received.
January 12,2011-RFE

They care as much as..............

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

As much as I hate being apart, I think it's probably wrong to place the blame (or at least all of it) on USCIS. They may enforce immigration laws, but they don't create them. The politicians in DC do that.

I know many here would like to believe that those working for USCIS could "bend" the rules for us at times, but how would they choose? Why would you get waived through and not me? These men and women are doing their job and we're simply "case files" to them. They see a ton of us every day, so we're not special.

Besides, if someone did "bend or break" the rules for an applicant, they might lose their job (and the applicant might still not get passed through anyway). The job they have is more important to them (and their family if they have one) than any of us getting together with our loved ones. They don't know us, so they're certainly not going to risk their job for a complete stranger they'll never meet.

I'm sure there are some "bad apples" who do find entertainment in preventing couples from getting together, but you'll find poor examples of people in any profession. None of us are so important (or perhaps, infamous) that any USCIS officer would pick us out of a crowd to harass us and only us.

To them, we are but pieces of paper with numbers stamped on them. No more, no less. Could be I feel the same about them, so it balances itself out .

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

It's true that the immigration process is a big suck for a lot of people. The government is currently working on this issue in all corners of the states. Contact your reps to let them know what you think and how it could improve.

USCIS employees are very warm and friendly people. They always make us feel so welcome when dealing with them. Their smiles always light up the room!!!! I just wish that I could give them all big hugs!!!!!! :D

I blame it on those who went before us and abused the system!

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

All depends on how you look at the system. For UK immigration, the K1 alternative takes approx 3 weeks compared to 6-8 months for the US.

Dont think there's anyone to blame for how the USCIS do there job.

I'll tell you what, anytime I called USCIS, they were always nice and helpful to me.

Thinkin of them as 'the big bad evil' isn't really accurate. But it does give the couple a 'common enemy' to join forces against. Once that influence is over, for some, it seems to spoil the romanticism of it all....
