OK....

So I dropped the ball and I am filing for the removal of my conditions only 30 days before my card expires. Is this really bad??

We have solid financial binding information: Taxes, Mortgages, Insurance Policies, bank accounts and home equity line of credits, a couple of utility receipts, evidence that we are beneficiaries on each other's life insurance, 401K's and IRA accounts. We are getting two affidavits from friends.

I think this is enough, the only thing I am worried about is not filing right at the 90 day window.

Also, I read somewhere, but I would appreciate confirmation. After I get my NOA for the removal of conditions I can travel outside the country... right? I am an internal auditor and there are a couple of work trips planned for the following months.

Any help or input is appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Ana

We filed towards the end of our window (only 3 weeks left). Still received the NOA/extension letter before the GC expired. It shouldn't be a problem at all.

The NOA + expired GC will allow you to travel freely.

Oh thank God!!

I am biting my nails, because I am out of town until this weekend and although we've been gathering all the documentation, we will not be sending the package until Saturday.

My next work trip takes off on the 28th of July (a day after expiration) and I will be out of the country for a month. So I am a little nervous about not being able to go to New Zealand (I know it's a long time and it's a LOOOONG trip, but I dont think I will ever get there if it wasnt for this work related trip),.

So I will try to be as organized as possible and send the documentation on Saturday and pray that we get the NOA soon.

Thanks for your reply!!

If you do not have the NOA extending the validity by the time you need to travel, you need to go get I-551 stamp on your passport. I read about some filer with certain service center did not get the NOA but they receive the NOA for biometrics & use that as proof of filing to get the stamp. Hopefully you get your NOA for extension before travel. Good luck!

I turned it in about 2 weeks before my GC expired.... but I sent it like next day delivery or something like that just to be safe!

What you do need to be aware of and perhaps the most urgent reason you need to send this thing ASAP is because you dont want your biometrics appointment notice to arrive while you are out of town, and the biometrics appointment is usually scheduled only about a couple of weeks after the date of your NOA..... dont say we didnt warn you!

Definitely get it filed soon so you have time to receive the extension letter. Do a good job of organizing it and send it by overnight with a tracking ability. You should understand that about two weeks after the application is filed the extension letter is sent/received. Also, the biometrics appointment will follow that letter within two more weeks. You will probably need to file for an extension of the biometrics appointment since you will be out of the country for a month.

Is someone picking up your mail?

The question is not for me but indulge me.....

For the past couple of days, I can't wait to go home and check our mailbox.

At work, I get excited around 2pm, thinking that the mailman could be sitting in front of our mailbox with the most awaited letters!

I check our status online every chance I get.

I think I caught the exact minute that our check got cashed.

I've read almost all posts in this forum related to our case.

Yes, this process has driven me crazy  (just me, hubby is as cool as everl)

This obsession has to be some kind of disease. I wonder if someone has come up with a name for it?

How have you been able to check for case status updates online? Have you received your biometrics appointment letter?

No. But our I-130 was touched twice. I have no idea why it was touched before we submitted our I-751. It made me nervous for a while. We, of course, are hoping that this step will be as smooth as possible.

It was touched again 2 days after CSC received the package, so I'm guessing it's because a letter has been sent out.
