i was an executive assistant of the CEO.. (A.K.A CEO's nanny, shock absorber, stress sponge, trouble shooter, pacifier, etc.. etc.. )

Stress sponge? :innocent:

You're bad

:jest:

You make me notice the word pacifier too. I must get out of this thread. I am at work

let me explain the words i used before u think of "anything else"...

SPONGE could absorb water.. and in my case I do absorb almost all the STRESS which is supposedly for my CEO especially when he is out of the country.. I need to look at all things in the office especially problems with clients which some of the engineers cannot handle.. He believes that I could resolve things in the office while he is away...

PACIFIER for the root word PACIFY - I am the one who always interact with my boss and other workers from the company as well.. As we know CEO could not always talk to the employees one by one.. He could be EASILY ANGRY when there is a problem with business and he could EASILY BLAME it to the employee.. I am acting up as a "MEDIATOR" between the employee and CEO (it means i do explain things to him one by one stating the employee's side as well) in that way, he could LOOSEN UP HIS ANGER.. "PACIFY HIM BY EXPLAINING THINGS PROPERLY"...

Those words (SPONGE and PACIFIER) were just "silly words" to describe what our (executive assistants like me) real job is...

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

I was a Financial Analyst & Head of the Billing & Collections Department. My husband asked me to quit my job and promised to support me financially & double my salary instead.

Interesting that you refer to the money your husband sends you as 'salary'.

Do you see being his wife as your new job? Is he essentially paying you to be his wife?

Go-go girl! More power!

Sometimes it is the women with the least power who make the most noise about having it.

I think she means she is getting double what she made working, dork :P

Maybe. But the use of the word 'salary' to refer to the monies she receives from her husband struck me as odd.

I really don't think she was referring to the money she gets from her husband as a salary.. she said, he is going to double my salary... meaning she is getting twice as much money as she was making at her job...

geez louise... why do we pick on people's choice of words, specailly when English isn't their first language?? :P

I mean no offense, but I am wondering about people quitting their jobs because their husbands ask them to. Is it to have kids or is it a cultural thing?

Just curious, not passing judgment.

Here's what I'd like to know - for those couples who both have careers and have children or plan to have children, how do you plan to juggle all of it?

Honestly,

If I made like 100k or over a year, I wouldn't be here on VJ. That time will come soon, maybe in two years or so.

Note: Aside from my retirement from VJ, it's a totally different story.
