i love my job but i love my husbie more.. (L)

May I ask why you were forced to choose?

Maybe he didn't like her job? (You could probably guess what it was?):whistle::whistle:

I worked for over 20 years in the Museum/heritage field, (Registrar, Curator of Collections, Curator, Exhibit design and installation, Consultant) then the 7 years immediately before moving to the States I was the Constituency Assistant for the Member of Parliament representing our Riding/Constituency. After I moved here, it took a while but I found a part time job back in the heritage field, however that ended last November when they ended the docent program. I now work very part time for a Meet and Greet company giving historic tours to tourists and going into schools doing heritage school programmes.

Well, she said she was working as an executive assistant to a CEO abroad. If she was working abroad, she had to have a work visa.

When Jan & I met I was and still am... a Acupuncturist.. I have my own private clinic.. this will remain the same when he arrives as well..

He .. is a web-designer.. and a Textile exporter. . When he finally gets here I have a office in the back of my clinic where he can work (if he choses)

He understands the importance of working.. in a place that has benefits... so I think when he is able to finally work.. he will probably take employment with a company that offers the beni's we need as a family.. For myself being self-employed.. gets to be a bit too pricey for family health insurance and retirement savings etc.. We both will always have the opportunity to work with the secondary business we both have with the exporting business...

We both respect each others opinion and feel that what ever the decision will end up will only be to the benefit of the whole family.. my kids.. his kids.. and the future we both are planing for us when we are too old to do anything else.. hehe..

I mean no offense, but I am wondering about people quitting their jobs because their husbands ask them to. Is it to have kids or is it a cultural thing?

Just curious, not passing judgment.

All I could say is that YOU HAVE SUCH A VERY WILD IMAGINATION.. You could use that to earn lots...

Anyway, need not to explain myself to you... Good luck.. You should start a career in writing...

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

You are right.. I have a VALID and LEGAL working visa.. I have such a DECENT job.. My dad is working there as well so I have my so called GUARDIAN..

Besides my parents brought me up with GOOD VALUES so the IMPLICATION is kinda degrading not just for me but for my parents as well...

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

hi! there were different cases... it is also not about culture but the situation you are into.. my husband and i compromised about the working issue.. i guess it is not that bad if i would give in to his request temporarily.. i have been working with stressful environment for years and prioritized career above everything.. this time my husband is more important...there is work anywhere.. i could always start from scratch since my education and work experience is there but it is very rare to find one true love.. In my case, i need to quit my job as a Network Monitoring Officer because of the time difference between me and my husband. When he is at work, i'm at home. When I'm at work, he is at home. Because of that we can't find time to chat and talk to each other. Since he has higher income than me then we agreed to each other that i'll stop working and he will just support me financially. We also agreed that i will start working back again once we are already together in the US.

It was really a hard decision for me to quit working because i was a candidate for Network Monitoring Head. But then i choose my husband over work. My reason is there are lots of jobs in this world but this man (my husband) is one and only in this world :)(L):luv:

No it wasn't a cultural thing. In my case after my resignation & wedding, my hubby begged me to quit working because of health reason. I was diagnosed with 9.8 cm endometriosis cyst and need to be operated thru a laporoscopic procedures immediately. After the operation merely 2 mos. rest, i am ready to work again but fortunately, we got a case complete from NVC recently. As such, i am a full time mother & a slave driver of my child sending her to school vis-a-vis .

Seriously, the Philippine culture attaches great importance to college education. Pride in accomplishment at school is instilled in Filipinas since their childhood and female college enrollment even exceeds that of the male. Filipina women need not to worship their husbands & just be a follower only. We are the women of principles, morals and values, born to be a fighter and yet a very loving human being. If we accomodate & agree our husband/s, It's just a matter of choices we set to believe in.
