Hi Guys,

I just received our AOS interview confirmation letter in the mail this afternoon. Our date is set for August 6th of this year and it couldnt be worse timing. I have been waiting for over 7 months and figured that the interview would take forever. With this in mind I booked a summer vacation to Europe to see some family and friends departing Aug 2nd -12th. Is there anyway i can postpone my interview date by a few weeks? I called the airline we are due to fly with and they confirmed that in order to change the reservation it would be a fee plus fare difference which works out to over $2000. I really don't want to have to change our travel dates. Has anyone had any success in moving their interview date?

Thanks

M

I beleive that if you examine the letter for the appointment it actually has instruction about rescheduling - I havent ever reschedule myself - perhaps someone who has can chip in?

Typical though, wait ages, make a plan and then find yourself between a rock and a hard place!

Hope someone can help you out with a solution.

Old saying!!

"Bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush!!"

May end up costing you more than 2K if USCIS screws up the reschedule!

Thats what im worried about. Is it worth just paying the 2k to reschedule or giving it a crack? Mind you as well the longer i wait to make a decision the more expensive the air fares gets. God damn my luck!

Personally, I would pay the 2000 bucks and just be done with it, this may delay your AOS for an unknown period of time. My green card is more important to me than a vacation trip, but hey! that's just me ;)

Good luck

Taking a chance i called NVC again and they rescheduled my interview date over the phone and provided me with a confirmation number. Always call back if you feel like you received the wrong information:-)

This is what one of my friends did and her case was denied because she didn't show up for the interview on the first date! Double or even triple check if everything is fine, have a name and number of the person you talked to just in case (this helped them to put her case back on track, but it took much longer for her than other people that filed with her to get approved!), make sure it is really changed and if it is possible (I am not sure...) that your first interview is cancelled... good luck!

I have run into a similar problem. I have a very small window for a honeymoon and my AOS interview got scheduled right in the middle of that window. Well, I had an Infopass meeting yesterday in West Palm Beach to figure out my options. The official indicated that I would need to put my request in writing to reschedule the interview and send that request to the Chicago lockbox. She said a few times to make sure that you send the request via registered mail or in some other manner to ensure you have proof that they received the letter because if that letter gets lost in the system and they don't reschedule your interview and inturn you don't show up, then you application gets thrown out the window.

The problem I see with trying to reschedule is that there is no set procedure. Who knows how long it will take to get a response to your request. You could receive a response a week before you are scheduled to leave and find out that they denied your request. Remember that you need show a serious reason for rescheduling your interview.

In my case, I've decided to keep my scheduled interview and get it done.

This exact thing happened to my wife and I. We ended up postponing our trip just to be safe. Our concern now is about being able to travel ASAP after the interview.

Good luck with what ever you end up doing.
