The journey has not ended yet...

Yes, yes I know... their are more papers work aheadh of me.. not now, but the time will pass..

I would need your inputs in after procedure of getting the CR-1 visa of my hubby.

Our Backgroud:

We filed through DCF after living in India for 6 months, visa was approved by Mumbai consulate and they have provided us with the "yellow packet" and a stamp/sticker on hubby's passport which has a validity for 6 months.

My question:

What will happen at the airport?

What is the procedure of applying for Green Card and Socail Security Number/

What is the procedure of removing conditions?

When can we apply for citizenship (5 years from this year, or 7 (5+2(removing conditions) from this year))

Thank you

Hello there. The process at the airport is usually fairly painless. I am assuming he received a CR1 since you mention removing conditions. You do not do anything to apply for the green card. At the airport, the visa is stamped and that is the temp proof of residence until the green card comes in the mail (it's triggered by entering the US, no need to send anything else). The forum about the I-751 should be helpful with info on removing conditions. You don't need to worry about it for almost two years. Citizenship can be applied for three years after entering generally - you would need to remain married and also he shouldn't take trips six months or longer outside the US before receiving citizenship. The five-year thing you see is for permanent residents applying for citizenship who are not married to a USC.
