when i saw the breakfast food i thought about posting earlier so will now, how does this sound....

Baked French Toast Casserole

Ingredients:

1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)

Butter, for pan

8 large eggs

2 cup half-and-half

1 cup milk

2 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

dash salt

Praline Topping, recipe follows

Raspberry Syrup, recipe follows

Directions:

Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch thick each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices.

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 45 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with Raspberry Syrup.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Inactive Cook Time: 8 hours

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Difficulty: Medium

Yield: 6-8 servings

Praline Topping:

1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1 cup chopped pecans

2 tablespoons light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2-teaspoon ground nutmeg

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and blend well. Spread over bread as directed above.

Raspberry Syrup:

1 cup raspberry preserves

3 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons raspberry liqueur (recommended: Framboise)

Combine ingredients in a small saucepan and place over medium heat. Stir until warm and thinned out like syrup.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Kelly, this is how I make homemade waffles! I add vanilla extract and hubby eats them w/ jam spread on it, I put whatever fresh berries we have. Today I made them (he's working a double shift, so I'm trying to take extra care of him) and I had one w/ fresh raspberries - YUM!!! Now I'm off to start a crock pot dinner, some homemade ice cream, & a key lime pie. We will barely see each other today, so I want to have food ready for when he comes home so he can rest before going to his 2nd shift, since I'll be gone teaching class when he gets home. I will get home about 30 min before he leaves again.

This is no way to lose the spare tire!!

amal did you ask him those 2 last names..what country they might be from? Looks totally like a cool floor store! I am already familiar with all those brands!

I just had a wonderful 2 hour chat with Ibrahim. Finally. We are having a hard time finding that 'chat groove' with our work scedules and the time difference.

I need to make a decision to file k3 or wait out an I130. I certainly know the differences and while appreciating the benefits of an I130, I look at cases like Andrea and Faisal, waiting over 2 years for 130 approval. That kinda stuff scares me right over to k3. It's free now. They used to charge for k3. So what do you all think? Wait out i130 or k3 it?
