Ladies and Gents,

I was just talking to my fiance and he mentioned that he went to the craftsman to get a price on his wedding dress :help: needless to say I was taken back about this. When I was in Marrakesh, I attened 2 weddings and both men were wearing suits.

What is the man's wedding dress that he talks about? Does anyone have a picture?

What is really scaring me is that he said it looks like my wedding dress he got made for me :help: , I surely hope not. :o

If someone could please help me out here I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Kathy

Kathy,

In Moroccan weddings, they men often wear a suit, but they usually change into a djellaba or jabador (sometimes both). The jabador are generally more expensive, and often finer. If the price is high, there is a good chance he is getting a jabador. They come in two and three pieces: shirt and pants, with the three piece being like a short djellaba with a hood. They are usually white or off-white in color. I couldn't find many pics of the jabador.

This link shows the King of Morocco getting married in a djellaba. In the second picture down, you can see a man in front of the king. He is wearing the third piece of the jabador. I personally prefer the two-piece jabador to the three piece.

One thing about the dresses the women wear...they are HEAVY! They have so much beading! I had so many, and his sisters and mother kept telling me, here try this one, now this one!

It was fun though...like playing dress ups when I was a kid.

How do you post pictures? I have been trying to attach my pictures.

Look below the white space where you post your message (between "Post Options" and the smiley face "Post Icons")... there is a "File Attachments" area.

(Or you can always use a free image hoster like "Image Shack" and just paste in the code.)

Hello Kathy,

This is Shauna, I was reading up on how you did the K-1 Visa, Can you tell me at all what the interview process is like. My fiance also is from Morocco. I noticed that in your interview you were denied. If its not too personal can you explain to me why? What is the 221g form that you mentioned also. Can you send your reply to my email address at dazed_and_confused_20062000@yahoo.com

VJ has a 200K maximum on messages, including attachments. That's not much. So your pic may be too big. You could use ImageShack @ http://imageshack.us/ (or PhotoBucket @ http://www.photobucket.com/ ) to add your pic in full size.... just go to the links and you'll see how to do it.

Hope this helps.... bring on the pics !

Hi Shauna... welcome to the ME/NA forum ! At what stage are you in your process ? I will add you to the cheerleading thread so we can cheer you on.

A 221g is not a "denial" per se. It is the official notice that the consulate is "unable" to issue the visa due to a particular circumstance.... it could be a missing document, or because the consulate is uncertain of your case and wants more evidence of relationship, or because the consulate still needs to complete its "Administrative Review" (background/name/security check on beneficiary.) The particular reason that pertains to your case will be stated on the form.

So Kathy did not get a "denial".... her 221g said the consulate wanted a police certificate from South Korea (apparently her fiance had worked there in the past.)

Once you provide the missing documents, the consulate reviews that evidence and then may either issue the visa, or they could issue another 221g for something else. We were issued a 221g for a missing Israeli police certificate (even though my husband has never lived in Israel) because of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank. Once we provided it, the visa was issued.

Some 221g's are notices that the file is being sent back to USCIS.... this is the worst scenario, as it is an "intent to deny." But USCIS must review the case first, and can either override the 221g and send it back to the consulate, or agree there is cause for denial. At this point the petitioner can appeal the decision and present further evidence. It could be a long and arduous process.... but Kiya has dug up some excellent information about it in her thread at http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=317

An out-and-out denial is called a 212g... this would mean that the consulate has information that excludes either the beneficiary or the petitioner from eligibility. (I saw a couple of them here on VJ where the consulate learned the beneficiary was already married to someone else  )

A 221g for Administrative Review is not uncommon, especially for males in Muslim countries, who often face extensive background/name/security checks. Be prepared for this delay, as you may face it in your case.

Insha'allah all Kathy needs was the police certificate, and they will issue the visa to her fiance.

This is a very brief explanation of a very complicated process.... if you dig through VJ you will find much more information on the subject.
