There are people who abuse EVERY system.

So what's the solution? Abolish ALL social programs for a few bad apples?

A few bad apples. lol.

The system needs a zero tolerance / no loitering policy. Two strikes and you are out for the kids. Simple as that. It is the tax payers property so treat it with some respect. If someone cannot do that then they should be thrown out so people who actually appreciate and respect the assistance get it.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

All my life i lived around the ghetto areas (minus the years i lived on military bases), and its the same thing everywhere i have been....the mothers are inside, eating, watching tv, selling or doing narcotics, having sex, or drunk, and their kids are running freely for hours, stealing, banging on doors, picking fights with other kids, cursing at 4 yrs old...etc

Interesting.

They're building "affordable" housing down the street from me. 2009 will be interesting.

No but they are examples of how most kids are raised in the section 8 program. #6 take note..

I am more than happy to assist people who need it but punish those who abuse it.

Well, peeing on a playground isn't abuse of Section8. It's still illegal, but it's not an abuse of the program.

Yeah. I meant more along the lines of code of conduct for government housing. Damaging public property should automatically mean you are thrown out. Therefore the parent/s will need to take note of this.

i own so that is a depressing thought :)

there are still efforts underway to get the new development turned into "moderate" income and senior housing. I would much prefer that.

What does that have to do with anything I said?

Did I deny the premise that there tends to be more crime in poor, govt assistance areas? I seem to remember suggesting a correlation between poverty and crime a while back - and you shat all over it.

Hence why they need to be thrown out so they are forced to realize I am not going to work my ### off to pay for their choice of lifestyle.

Sure, but here's the problem - where do they do once they're thrown out? We can't really say it's not our problem, because it is - homelessness and vagrancy tend to be even worse and in the long run cost taxpayers even more.

Im not going to deny feeling bad for the ones who need it and are trying to make their lives better. Hell i did it.

I needed the help when i had my daughter 12 yrs ago, i was on foodstamps and medical.

However, once i got a good job with insurance, i was off the state assistance. Also while on it i didnt forget i grew up with manners and morals....and the big one.........RESPECT

Well it does if you consider how the economic inequality in those "certain communities" came about in the first place...

How is not relevant. The past is the past. I look towards the future.

That's my whole problem with your line of reasoning. Stereotypes... as I said.

While ignorance/denial of reality is yours.

Looking forward without having good footing is also a great way of tripping.

i have to agree with the section 8 thing.

Me, Edi and the kids lived in these amazing apartment homes until this past April, they were 2 yrs old, everything was wonderful, other than the section 8 ppl causing swat and k-9 to constantly appear during the evenings and especially saturday nights (didnt need to watch cops at 8pm when i could sit outside).

The thing that REALLY pissed me of, was i was paying almost $1,000.00 a month there for a 2 bedroom, and section 8 ppl were paying anywhere between $200.00 and $500.00 a month to live there, and bc of them my kids couldnt play outside. My son wanted so badly to play in the playground, but when i saw kids peeing on the equip and found used condoms and surenges in the sand box, i was like OH HELL NO. and no matter how many times i reported it, nothing was ever done. I think the managment was afraid of the section 8 ppl.

They did put all the section 8 in the back of the complex, however, it didnt stop them from stealing things off my porch, banging at my door at 3am asking to use my phone, or asking for batteries.

As far as I know Section8ers were equally prone to shoot up as other *poor* folks. Perhaps law enforcement can be contacted?

There are people who abuse EVERY system.

So what's the solution? Abolish ALL social programs for a few bad apples?

I think enforcement and verification could be tuned up a bit.

Ok, lemme give you one of many examples i have:

I was sitting on my porch one night, and a 4 yr old girl came to me and asked if she could come in and use my toilet. I asked her if she lived around there, if she could go home and use hers. (sorry aint leting NO ONE in my home) and she sd "yes, but my mommy and her boyfriends are in there and she sd i cant come home until she tells me i can". it was 9:30 AT NIGHT, and she was 4 YEARS OLD.

That is so sad :(

Child endangerment. P-O-L-I-C-E

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
