Okay... but you just said that generational poverty doesn't explain the prevalence of poverty in certain communities. At the best those problems are interrelated - so how you can "look to the future" without understanding that doesn't really make sense.

I was sitting on my porch one night, and a 4 yr old girl came to me and asked if she could come in and use my toilet. I asked her if she lived around there, if she could go home and use hers. (sorry aint leting NO ONE in my home) and she sd "yes, but my mommy and her boyfriends are in there and she sd i cant come home until she tells me i can". it was 9:30 AT NIGHT, and she was 4 YEARS OLD.

And thats just ONE example, i could go on all week with stories.

Just bc you work at the welfare office, doesnt mean you know anything about the ppl in the system, live around them, enteract with them outside of work, and you will have a nice surprise.

Also, keep in mind, there are SO many ppl who legitimatly need to use the system and cant bc of ppl who take advantage of it

i have to agree with the section 8 thing.

Me, Edi and the kids lived in these amazing apartment homes until this past April, they were 2 yrs old, everything was wonderful, other than the section 8 ppl causing swat and k-9 to constantly appear during the evenings and especially saturday nights (didnt need to watch cops at 8pm when i could sit outside).

The thing that REALLY pissed me of, was i was paying almost $1,000.00 a month there for a 2 bedroom, and section 8 ppl were paying anywhere between $200.00 and $500.00 a month to live there, and bc of them my kids couldnt play outside. My son wanted so badly to play in the playground, but when i saw kids peeing on the equip and found used condoms and surenges in the sand box, i was like OH HELL NO. and no matter how many times i reported it, nothing was ever done. I think the managment was afraid of the section 8 ppl.

They did put all the section 8 in the back of the complex, however, it didnt stop them from stealing things off my porch, banging at my door at 3am asking to use my phone, or asking for batteries.

How does anyone justify that? Here we have people who the tax payer is assisting but they could not give a ####. This is the huge problem with welfare. No one should be entitled to it or feel so. I have not issue contributing to people who deserve it and will be grateful. Someone is paying for their welfare and these people need to realize that. It certainly isn't their broke ### that is paying for it. So at least have the decency to respect the people who are.

Damaging public places or others property has nothing to do with lack of education or opportunity.

I have seen things in my job that make me lose sleep of make me go in the bathroom and cry....but I've also seen good people who just need a little help to get back on their feet, so you can't jsut make these sweeping generalizations about public housing etc.....

Recipients of these programs believe they're entitled to it. They don't realize or appreciate that taxpayers who don't use (or need) the programs are the ones paying for them!

Well, no one is saying everyone in public housing or on Section8 is a crook. All that's being said here is that crime tends to correlate with them.

Im not, i agree ppl are out there who need to be in the system for help, but most of those ppl are being pushed aside for the ones who dont need it but are too lazy to work or who do work and use the system to get more "THINGS"

Give me a break.. What right do these lowlifes have to trash public areas? Should everyone else simple have to suck it up an deal with it because the culprits parents or the authorities don't. This is why America has so many ghettos and such a high crime rate to begin with.

Fair enough, then if you are going to talk about these ppl, dont use work as your only source, as these ppl know how to play the system and ppl very well, if you know these ppl and how they are outside of the comfort of the welfare office, then pls by all means, im openminded to your opinions. Unless youve only encountered the ones who "need" the system.

No but they are examples of how most kids are raised in the section 8 program. All my life i lived around the ghetto areas (minus the years i lived on military bases), and its the same thing everywhere i have been....the mothers are inside, eating, watching tv, selling or doing narcotics, having sex, or drunk, and their kids are running freely for hours, stealing, banging on doors, picking fights with other kids, cursing at 4 yrs old...etc
