Someone is paying for their welfare and these people need to realize that. It certainly isn't their broke ### that is paying for it. So at least have the decency to respect the people who are.

Recipients of these programs believe they're entitled to it. They don't realize or appreciate that taxpayers who don't use (or need) the programs are the ones paying for them!

For some it is lifestyle.

His cousin is having 4th kid and her words" I am going to have as many children I want as long as the system will pay for it". I am just so glad that I was able to work & provide for her kids - NOT

but, are all the people who live in section 8 criminals and crackheads? everyone and single of them? who have no right to live in a decent hood?

Nope, by all means no, but the ones who are, give the good ones the bad name.

Here in Oregon there is a 5 year LIFETIME limit for receiving services.

We try our best to get these people back up on their feet with job training

drug counseling etc...whatever it takes becasue it can't be a lifestyle here....5 years MAX, and then no safety net.

Not everyone. Most people are just perpetual losers who can't be arsed to work.

God forbid they find a good job - they'll have their Section 8 housing taken away

from them.

My county has a 'job training' facility where they teach you skills to re-enter the job market... it is free but you have to enroll and keep your appointments. That's good BUT the stuff they teach is lame. They teach you how to type, for example. Another workshop goes over telephone etiquette.

Dude they may be lame to you but not everyone has Trollesque phone etiquette (reaching by myself perhaps?) or college-grade grammar...

Grammar, ok. I get that.

But the phone? Everybody has a phone these days, even the vagrants have their cells!

Most of these people have no education or training and they can get a minimum wage job with no health insurance and have to pay $800 a month rent and lose housing and food stamps and medical.......what's the incentive???????

We have to help them gain marketable skills so they can get the jobs that will sustain their families......and remove the barriers (drugs, domestic violence etc) to making that happen.

The whole "not in my backyard" thing SUCKS
