:unsure: I am a US citizen and my husband is Mexican, he is here illegally and I have no idea on what to do to change that, and get in the right track to change his status. Would someone please help me? I would really appreciate all the information that I could get. :help:

Yes, getting an attorney is a very good idea. Basically, there is no way he can adjust his status from illegal to immigrant from within the US. Depending on how long he has been in the US once he leaves, there will be a barr to his re-admission. You will need to file a hardship waiver request for illegal presence. There will be a lot of time, some expense and a lot of paperwork ahead. Good luck.

To the OP... Did your husband overstay a visa or did he enter without inspection? The answer to this question will make a huge difference to your situation.

A friend of my wife's hired an immigration attorney that had handled similar cases to help her 'illegal immigrant' husband get his greencard. He did not have to leave the country at all. I do not know if he was inspected or not at the border; but the critical thing to do is; ask the attorney, if he has handled such cases and get the names of the people he has helped and talk to them. You definitely need an attorney (hers cost her around $1500 - 2000). Good Luck
