Okay here is the Deal i have read many threads in here on whether or not to hire an lawyer for the K1 Visa. While i have seriously considered doing it i havnt pulled the trigger yet on it after reading ppls advice here. The thing i am noticing is ppl are saying if you have a difficult case i might want to still consider hiring one. Well i have 4 felony dist of marijunna charges from 12 years ago when i was younger. My 1st question is the normal should i hire an attorney>? The second one is what all do i need to get from the courts and how do i go about getting it. I also have a drunk in public about 15 years ago and a Reckless Driving ticket about 5 years ago do i need to submit those also ?

The big issue are the drug charges. Are they from a single event or several and what was your age when you got them ( <> 18 ? )

Hiring a lawyer for me is a good choice whether or not you have serious problem. Although a lot said, it may take more days if we will hire an attorney than by doing it ourself, but for me, better make things sure than riding into the ship without a life jacket. Anyway, it's our personal choice. There is always a positive and a negative thing about hiring an attorney or not. If there are time delays in the info from the US Gov't that handles the case to attorney and to the petitioner, anyway it's only a matter of days.

In your case, well, if you are a petitioner, i don't think so it's a problem; but if you are a beneficiary, then better ask a legal advise, because beneficiaries like me need to have a medical test before we will be approved and if i'm not wrong if you were proven to be a drug positive then that may be one of the cause of denial. So, hiring an attorney or seeking legal advise is an excellent and intelligent step.

Good luck to us.

Are you the petitioner or the immigrant?

If you're the petitioner, it has no impact.

Specifically, your description indicates you would simply answer "NO" to question C 2. and get on with your life.
