Incidents like this just make me more convinced that the death penalty is more than warranted....

Killing someone in prison (not legitimate self-defense, mind you), especially a CO, should result in the death penalty automatically.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments, and to answer another persons comment, this man was a good man, he was only an officer for 7 months, nothing can warrent death, and the reason why the bop isnt releasing any information is because theses inmates killed another person in prison before!!!

We don't know what he had done to the persons who killed him.

Why do you think correctional officers are often portrayed in movies as

inherently sadistic and mindlessly authoritarian one-dimensional characters

without any redeeming qualities?

Things aren't always black and white. Just because he was a CO

("a good guy") and was killed by criminals ("the bad guys"), doesn't mean

he was right and they were wrong.

He was transferred to Atwater from another prison on his way to being extradited. He had been at Atwater for a minimal amount of time..... not long enough to have any time to meet his victim and form an opinion about him. The victim had only been on the job for 7 months, and the perpetrator had just arrived. The perpetrator was angry that he had been transferred and acted out. He didn't want to go to Atwater.... and now he's been transferred again. He got what he wanted. Satisfied?

I'm not sure what your point was with this answer, Whilst you're absolutely right that things aren't always black and white, to hold down someone and cowardly kill him cannot be justified by ANYTHING.
