I never really got to eat the junk cereals, unless they came as a part of the variety pack! I remember liking the Honey Smacks.

ETA: Oh I guess they still sell those! I don't think I know any retro cereals!

Healthy Cereals - do they exist?

Here are 4 simple criteria for choosing cereals (based on ½ cup servings):

Low in sugar: Choose cereals that have less than 8g per serving

Higher in fiber: Choose brands that have more than 4g per serving

Short ingredients list: Under 5 is usually a good

Good, pronounceable ingredients: Look for whole grains or oats to be the first ingredient and watch for excessive additives

It was first called Sugar Smacks.

They've revived Quisp a few times...seems to have a cult following.

in Canada we have this cereal called Sugar Crisp.. I think it is similar to those Honey Smacks...

they are like sugar coated puff wheat... I have tired a brand down here that is similar but they taste way sweeter then the Sugar Crisp...

when I was a little kid my mom would always buy the FrankenBerry cereal or count Chokula... but then all of a sudden she stopped and would only by cornflakes or rice krispies

one time we were spending the night with this family and for Breakfast they had fruit loops and me and my bros watched in horror as the kids put sugar in their bowl of fruit loops :

My parents were nutition nazis who would not buy sugar smacks, lucky charms and fruit loops. So when me and my brother went to our cousins' house, where these cupboards were stocked with such tasty delights we'd eat ourselves into a sugar coma.
