"but if you fear freedom leave this site NOW" <--- this is my favorite line so far. Its just classic!!

Tamara, you have the right to post a link whatever you like, but if you come into a forum where the majority of everyone posting is married/engaged to a muslim.. you must be prepared for the backlash.

Just my two cents.

Im very sorry that your SO had this experience and I am truly gratefull that we live in a country that allows religious freedom. But, saying that only "decent" muslims leave their religion is pretty hypocritical.

"What would Jesus do ?"

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

oh believe me, I am not mad at any one at all... there are the ones I disagree with and the ones I agree with on all different subjects... If I dont agree with islam and wanted to post a website link giving thoughts to read about... it wouldnt matter what I posted bcz no one would agree with me and for sure some one would have something to say... im well aware of that... but I have never been rude to one person on here or argued with anyone about islam. And never did I state that only decent muslims leave their religion so I dont know why that was ever stated. I posted regarding to what was said about freedom to choose in what one wants to believe.

and how about we talk about the goodness and blessings of the LORD daily instead of wonder why one doesnt agree with Islam...

Its stated on the front page of the site you linked. If someone feels strongly enough to post a link in a public forum; I assume they stand behind every word being written on said site.

Hello all... I'm Court and new to Visa Journey. I have spent the last couple of days checking out the site. I swore to myself that I just wanted to get familiar with the site before I started talking out loud (lol). HOWEVER, I feel compelled to reply, and I hope you don't mind.

"The problem to be faced is: how to combine loyalty to one's own tradition with reverence for different traditions."

I know we are not talking about tradition, persay. But the same principle applies to religion. We fear what we do not know. I always have such pity on those that cannot open their mind and eyes, and see what doesn't always fit their "mold".

Even if that your beliefs do not follow those of Islam, Judaism, Hindu, or Christianity for that matter...you do not offend those that have befriended you, been there for you when you didn't know what to do, that take their religion obviously a serious as you. That is just plain IGNORANT.

ignorance (plural ignorances)

The condition of being uninformed or uneducated. Lacking knowledge or information.

MUSLIM. PROUD TO BE.

"Tolerance implies no lack of commitment to one's own beliefs. Rather it condemns the oppression or persecution of others.

~John Fitzgerald Kennedy~

Did you read the post?

I just have to add that every religious leader would be an immigrant btw.. with the exception of a few very young ones like mormons.

you mean no one in the USA gets their feelings hurt... gosh... im a customer svc manager and we deal with it every day for being called out of our names, yelled at, ect... come on... what I posted is in my opinion a basic website of what one who does not agree with islam... ya'll chose to click on the link... the name of the link itself is not a bad title. I didnt say muslims were bad people ... I posted a link that disagreed with it . . . No one has yet to give me a name of a good link in their opinion of what is OK to post... if one does not agree with islam...

And I have read alot on VJ in topics/posts about people arguing about islam, some think they are more right over others, and some who post about christianity or JESUS or GOD in a bad way... everyone on VJ has had their feelings hurt. Some intentional and some not... I didnt hurt anyone intentional... I gave a link for people to choose to read and discern for themselves what they liked. End of Point.

Yeah we have freedom of speech here, but even freedom of speech has limits. Freedo of speech is our right, but it should not be abused, just like any other right.

I do wonder though if someone posted a link such as this about <insert another religion> would it be tolerated by the TOS?

Egypt may or may not be the best example to give about "religious tolerence". I cannot say for sure on Egypt so maybe someone who is more familiar than me can say if Christians, Jews, and Muslims live side by side there.

In other parts of the middle east, Christians, Jews, and Muslims live side by side. They have not had issues and the only time they have or had issues was when politicians or extremists from any side put sparks out and then all Hell breaks loose. Even in Palestine, christians, Muslims, and yes even some Jews live peacefully together. (the media does not want you to know that though). The shiites and sunnis in Iraq were not after each other's throats before the US invasion of Iraq. Even in Iran where everyone knows Ahmadinejad has spoken out against Jews, holocuast from the viewpoint of western media, but there are Jews (although a minority) living in Iran and there have been for centuries! Syria too has Christian and Muslim population as does Lebanon. Did I leave anyone out?

Unfortunately we cannot change what people think. But we can choose with our own minds that Allah gave us to think for ourselves and ignore or reject things that other people say. I personally dont have a spell to change people's mindsets, for if I did, we would have been at world peace a long time ago:)

And WOM, funny you mention a site like stormfront. One of my friends stumbled upon that site a while ago and some of the things posted there are crazy! I don't think they are too much of a threat though (from that site) because many appear to be armchair nazis:) In any white supremacist movement, there appears to be way too much infighting for any organization, at least in the US. That's my 2 cents on the matter anyways.

People trash Christians and Christianity all the time on VJ and it is not a violation of TOS-- or if it is, it is not enforced.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Thank you for pointing this out. Not only is Christianity trashed but it seems like the religion of Islam is the only one that is shoved down peoples throats here on VJ. This is an immigration website and not everyone is Muslim or married to a Muslim. I don't start daily threads talking about Jesus or saying the Lord's prayer and I would be just as uncomfortable with that if it happened. Anytime religion or politics is discussed expect sparks to fly.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.
