Hello Visa Journey,

I have decided to try going to ASC Jacksonville office this coming Wednesday for my biometrics appointment. I was being scheduled for friday, the 27th but I can't make it due to a seminar that I need to attend to.

I have already mailed the request letter together with the original bio appointment to ASC last week but still would try to give a walk-in a shot.

I was wondering if I will have problems just showing a copy of the appointment ..

Also, if anyone of you have gone to ASC jacksonville office, Florida.. Is it a busy office? Are the security guards strict? I was kinda worried if they do accept walk-ins.. Just wondering.. :innocent:

Actually, if you do not have the original biometrics schedule letter they will probably not let you in nor will they do your biometrics. You are told to bring the original letter. Perhaps, if it were you on your actual scheduled date and time and you showed up with the copy they might let you in as you are on their appointment list, but as a walk-in, well quite honestly, I think you would be wasting your time going. They stamp the biometrics letter and that serves as your proof/receipt that you had your appointment. With a copy what is to stop you from going back with the unstamped original - although I don't know why you would want to! Wait until they send you the rescheduled appointment date. You should hear something within the next 10 days or so about a new appointment.

It's been a couple of years since I have been there. I doubt the guards will just let you walk in there and ask for early bio. The folks were really nice but they were strictly by the book. They did bend over backwards to help a guy that had fallen through the system and wasn't being called.

Hello ella_kirk,

Likewise, I will be doing a walk-in biometrics this week too. See this message thread for more information: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=151067

Now ordinarily I would say that it would be ok for you try to do a walk-biometrics. However, since you sent back your original biomterics letter for them to re-schedule for you at a later date, you shouldn't go for the walk-in. More likely than not, (as Kathryn mentioned too), they would want to see the original biometrics letter, and not a copy of it, so that they can scan it into their system properly and they can stamp it afterwards for you as a receipt when you're done. And yes, you are told to bring the original letter, not a copy of it, as a copy can be easily forged. So without the original biometrics letter, it would probably be a no-go for the biometrics walk in for you.

Don't worry though, as you'll probably get the rescheduled appointment letter soon. And even though it's at a later date and time, at least it is of one that you can definitely attend to and then get that done quickly when scheduled.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your re-scheduled biometrics appointment and the rest of your immigration journey.

What about just changing the time in your schedule, for example I am scheduled for 3pm, and I walk-in like early morning instead in the afternoon schedule, will they allow me to do the biometrics on the date sched but earlier time??? because in the morning my kids at school, and that time they scheduled me is the time my kids will be back home and no one will be there for them to be taken care of.

Thanks!

It is worth a try. When you go, explain to them your situation and ask them if they can accommodate you at the different time. Since it is the same day they may well be willing. Good luck.

Hi Rebelheart,

I agree, I think you should give the walk-in same day biometrics it a try, as it is on the same day but at a different time, and especially that child care arrangements at the last-minute at an inconvenient time is sometimes hard to find and you probably don't want to bring your kids there if they don't need to be there for biometrics. It will definitely be more convenient for you to not have to worry about someone having to take care of your kids after school if you go in the morning instead. Just bring your biometrics letter, explain your situation to them, and they'll probably be able to help you that same day. If not, you can re-schedule for another day that will come up soon, at a time in the morning that is convenient for you.

Good luck on your walk-in biometrics coming up. Do keep us updated as to how that goes for you. And good luck on the rest of your immigration journey too.
