Why do people think that CSC and "No Interview" is better?

We were transferred to CSC and approved by mail in less time than you did by interview, so that is why many think it is better to be transferred to the CSC AND you do not have to take off work or blow or waste a whole day or make special trip and waste gas on going to some interview and fighting traffic or finding parking at some Fed building. :innocent::whistle:

We had an interview and were approved swiftly - MUCH faster than had our case been sent to CSC!

I suppose it does depend on the individual case but to me, interview was preferable to joining the long line at CSC :)

Thanks everyone - I was being pretty subjective with regard to my own case and yes, I can see the advantages of not having to take time off work etc - I was just happy to get the whole thing over and done with quickly. Gathering evidence wasn't an issue as I'd done that swiftly anyway - you don't know if you'll be interviewed or not when you apply for AOS so I just made sure I was ready for either scenario.

My husband's getting deployed and right now is in training (basically not home till June 2009).. Just happy for the fact that I might get approved without attending an interview alone. A few weeks earlt or late doesn't matter

Hi DanielParul. I hope you get approved soon - it seems ridiculous that they can't/won't expedite things for military personel in situations like yours.

Someone who filed a few days after me in April has just been notified of their interview date - in September. Those of us who have been transferred to CSC are likely to have been approved before then and without all the hassle of the interview itself.

Hi English Muffin. I didn't realise that the wait could be that long for an interview - your timeline looks pretty good so hope you get your green card soon.

(copying a response I made to another post here as it fits)

Barbarella, the speed of approval from being transferred or being interviewed is totally relative to the local office. If you are waiting for an interview at a busy, backed-up office (such as ours is in Atlanta), it is definitely faster being transferred to California for approval. Our file 'sat' waiting an interview in the Atlanta office for 14 months. Then it was transferred to California. It still took another 8 months for approval through the transfer but those who had applied at Atlanta when I did and had not been transferred were STILL waiting for interviews. In fact there is one person who posted yesterday on VJ that they just got their Atlanta interview and they filed when we did - 4 years ago in 2004. For those of us transferred, especially initially, it was definitely much faster going through California. You were just lucky that your local office is not one of the backed-up, busier ones.

Wow Kathryn - what a nightmare - nearly two years  I hope your Removal of Conditions goes smoothly. We were definitely lucky to be at a less backlogged Field Office.

Looking at your timeline it took four months from application to approval - July-November :whistle::whistle:

Am I understanding this correctly? If you are transferred to CSC you do NOT have an interview?! I haven't read that anywhere and we just found out my husband's case was transferred to CSC. Does anyone know if this is true for every case? Or can they transfer it back to a local office and give you an interview?

I would like to know because I'm having my husband "study" up on the potential questions they will ask becasue English is his second language.

Thanks for any information or advice!

They can still transfer the case back to a local office after it has been transferred to CSC. An interview can still happen, but by accounts on this forum it seems that it is a rarity.

The chances of approval without interview an increase exponentially when a transfer to CSC occurs

YMMV

Hey,

I am a bit confused about CSC and local office? Are you talking about the interview for AOS approval? Can you choose your case to be transferred to CSC or your local office??

Are AP and EAD concerned by that? I mean, do they automatically transfer your file to CSC and deal with it there for AP or can you have it transfered to the local office??

Thanks

Faustine

You cannot choose for your case to be transferred to CSC or choose your local office. If your case is transferred to CSC, I believe that the AP and EAD are dealt with there, too. You don't have any say in where your case goes, though.

Firstly, please don't use all capitals. It's a headache to read.

Secondly, what you read is correct. You don't decide if you want to be transferred or not. If your case is transferred, you get a letter telling you that such. It's out of your control.
