Met online... it was unexpected (at least on my part). He was looking for me, I wasn't looking for him. Love, indeed, moves in mysterious ways. :luv:

A mutual friend "introduced" us online.

Then we met face to face in Nurnberg. I was holding a bag of German toilet paper the first time we ever saw each other (and I have the picture to prove it). Very romantic. We were already amazingly good friends. Who knew then that we'd end up totally in love? I think it was the toilet paper.

Except for all the parts, starting from meeting face to face in Nurnberg, our story is the same.

What, you weren't holding toilet paper when you met Jinky?

There might have been some stuck to my shoe, but that's about it. When we were first introduced, I thought, what an odd name...but then it grew on me. :D

Love is indeed mysterious.

I hated that Patrick's name wasn't very German :)

My husband's very German name is a woman's name in English, so consider yourself a bit lucky. ;)

Ah. Yes, his brother has a very feminine English name as well.

Still trying to convince him we want a boy and a girl and we want to name them Hansel und Gretl.

Steven...I love the name Jinky

Well, it is just funny when people assume I am my husband. And then we don't share last names, except when my husband decides he wants to borrow mine for whatever reason, and then our first names are essentially just male and female forms of the same name...

I would find all the terrible old German names he hated and threatened to call our kid that or call him Kevin if it was a boy. Hahaha!

We ended up giving our daughter the name Liv. Everyone assumes here it is short for Olivia and are confused when I explain it is not. Some people also don't know who Liv Tyler is when I try to give a real life example. I didn't think the name would be that difficult, but it was the only girl's name we agreed on out of however many millions we combed over. Names in English I had no idea had such terrible associations in German until my husband spouted off all these reasons that we might as well sell our kid to the trailer park circus to name them that. Agh. :P

My nieces are Liv and Ella. Lovely names.

Yeah, apparently Emma is off the table b/c it's "an old lady's name."

Aren't old lady names back in fashion though? You should show him where Emma is currently the Number 3 name for girls in the US according to the SSA.

And what do you know, it was Number 12 in Germany last year:

We met through an online game called Guild Wars. He was my best friend and my rock while I suffered through a bad marriage and the subsequent divorce. He was the light at the end of my dark tunnel. :)

Cool... that is similar to my hubby and me!

My husband and I were playing the MMORPG FFXI (Final Fantasy 11). I played a little red-headed Taru named Leilu and my husband played a hume named Nazoom! We started out as friends and became super close and then it went to the next level. We met July or August of 2005 online and we met in person here in the US in July 2006, we got married March 2007 and are now expecting our first baby in less than 9 weeks. He and I never imagined in a million years we would ever date, let alone marry someone we met online and well... we did! He is AMAZING! I miss him so much and hope this whole immigration journey is over quickly and we don't have to be 2000 miles apart any longer!

Well, yes. I was married for 9 years and the last 3 or 4 were just ... not good. But we have kids so for their sake.

He's remarried happily and I will be as well so clearly it worked out the way it should have :)
