Ok, so Patrick and I have quite a few people coming from out of country and out of state to celebrate with us for the wedding. We aren't leaving for our "honeymoon" until after his family flies back to Germany and we have the week before with them as well. We have quite a few activities that everyone will be able to partake in...kayaking on Lake Union, a drive to the Olympic Peninsula, our Polterabend, etc.

Soooooooooooooo. We want to do a Scavenger Hunt in Seattle for our family and friends the day after our wedding as most people will still be in town. They'll have already spent some time in Seattle and we'll match up locals with the out-of-towners. Our idea is to meet at our house (about 15 minutes from downtown), hand out the lists, send people on their way, then meet back up at "our" pub/restaurant that evening. We would love some ideas for the list. Bear in mind this is family friendly. There will people from 10 to 60 participating :)

Here's a very rough list:

A non-Starbucks disposable coffee cup with a business logo signed by an employee

A take-out menu.

A free promotional pen (must have company's info on it).

A one cent stamp.

A photo of a team member on top of one of the Seattle pigs

A 1980 coin (any denomination).

A family recipe from a local resident.

A photo of an out-of-state license plate.

The best price for steak dinner in town.

A photo of ALL team members drinking from the same drink at the same time

The business card of ____________????

A photo of a stranger serenading your team with an instrument.

A flyer or pamphlet from the Seattle Art Museum

The signature of someone who works at Benaroya Hall

A photo of a team member putting on makeup at Sephora (will be especially fun for all-male teams)

The signature of a local policeman (bonus points for a photo of team member with him)

A receipt for a purchase of exactly $5.00 (with that day's date on it)

Something from Pike Place market? Ivars? Spaceneedle?

The Pike Place Munch-Around-the-Market Scavenger Hunt Seattle watson list

Flying fish, Olympia oysters, beaming sunflowers, Rainier cherries, Walla Walla onions, exotic cheeses, hot donuts, live musicians, dramatic views, eclectic and eccentric stores hidden in a three-story warren of halls and ramps—America’s premier market has something for everyone. And if you’ve been to the Pike Place Market, we don’t need to tell you that it makes for a great venue for a scavenger hunt. But even if you think you know the market, you’ll be surprised at all the places and sights you never noticed. The hunt covers the mazy, multi-level Pike Place Market proper and the surrounding blocks. Several groups from Microsoft have raved about this hunt. On this special hunt, you won’t just be hunting for answers to our usual tricky, humorous questions, you’ll also be seeking and noshing on foods along the way. You’ll be searching for answers to such questions as...

Seattle scavenger hunt

About our Seattle scavenger hunts: A vibrant downtown area, a mild climate, a frontier-town history, and a beautiful waterfront are all elements that will make your scavenger hunt event a successful one. The Great Seattle Scavenger Hunt will take your team to popular tourist locations like: Pike Place Market, The Art Museum, Bell Street Pier, Waterfall Garden Park, Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park, The Waterfront, Pioneer Square, Ranier Square and many works of art and public gardens.

Some examples of objects that participants in our Seattle corporate scavenger hunts are challenged to collect are: a snow globe and a love letter written by a stranger. Photographs to be taken include a bad parking job and the team re-enacting a scene from a Shakespearian tragedy, preferably on a stage.

Sounds like fun... enjoy it.. make it as easy or as crazy as you want... just have fun.. congrats

Oh wow. I want to come to your scavenger hunt, Jun!

We did a car rally, once, where the destination was found based on clues from landmarks and points given for scavenger hunt items. It was so much fun! (The pig roast and party afterwards probably had a lot to do with it.) So that's my long way of saying you could reference signs in the area and ask them to answer a question about it. My other suggestion is lots of food and booze at the end of it.

Take lots of pics and let us know how it turned out!

Oh, I like that idea about the signs. We have one rule though that the participants can't use a car. Feet or public transport only (otherwise totally unfair to the non-locals!).

Oh I'll post pictures :)

There will be lots of food and drinks at the end....we're ending at an Irish pub
