Emergency AP

My application of emergency AP was denied although I have evidence to show my mother is now in hospital. I went to the local office for two times. First time I was told they do not accept such application and I need to file with Chicago first. Second time I was told this is not a life and death matter and they suggest we should start another visa application if I do travel. I do feel strange that why they are so reluctant to issue such emergency AP. I will leave the country anyway since I really have no time to wait. Just feel upset that it seems I did not meet a sympathetic officer. In this case we need to start the whole process again. Why such emergency AP is so hard to get?

I was given emergency AP at the Seattle district office when my Mom was in the hospital and it wasn't a life and death situation. The doctor just wrote in the letter that I was needed to get my Mom settled into a nursing home after she was released from the hospital.

If you leave the U.S. without AP, you will definitely have to start the process all over again. Why don't you just apply for regular AP and then go home after it gets approved?

Thanks for your reply. The fact is my mother is really in a very dangerous situation and there is no one taking care of her at home. I was told she still does not talk and cannot move her body. I have already got my ticket home. Just do not understand those immigration officiers. They do know that I will go anyway they still think this is not emergent enough.

I am very shocked to hear that, under the circumstances regarding your Mom, that you were denied.

I understand you needing to get home to help your Mom out.
