I think it depends on the situation. If someone yells from a car to a pedestrian to shut up, I'd say that could be interpreted as a threat...particularly a man yelling at a woman.

well, I'm just going to leave it at I'm sure it was a nasty experience for Jinky.

I'm going to start carrying around fake flowers with me.

The next time some a-hat yells at me or my kids or a random passerby, I shall give him/her a flower and spread peace and love.

Or flip him off.

 For sure. I consoled her not to take it personally...the guy has issues. She's pretty tough though....said she wanted to punch him but was afraid he may have a gun. :jest:

No he probably wouldn't have done that if you were there, Steven.

Tuesday night we were in downtown Seattle coming home from a Mariner's game. My son's choir sang the National Anthem at the game the Mariner's won and we were all in good spirits.

As we (me, my sister, my son and daughter) walked to our car (about 8 blocks from the field) we passed in front of a parking lot. This guy in a HUGE (and unnecessary) SUV comes barreling through the parking lots with all 378275832 lights on the SUV on high beams and lays on the horn. Since the street was to my left, my daughter was to my right, closest to the parking lot. Scared the ever-loving poo out of us. And the guy never let up on his horn. My daughter was shaking and when we passed him, I turned around and stared at the driver. The passenger window was down and couldn't help myself and yelled "DUDE!!!! THERE ARE KIDS AROUND!!!" Probably wasn't very menacing, but I was pissed off and my daughter was shaking and near tears. A$$hat said "#### you and your kids." He was obviously drunk, and some guy in a car across the street from us yelled "A$$hole" to him (which was funny).

So there's no accounting for some people. I mean, Seattle's a pretty tame town but there are jerks everywhere.

Oh Jen, sorry that happened to you. I've noticed a lot of drivers in parking lots acting really aggressive, like zooming through with no care whether a pedestrian is walking by. I don't know if it's true, but was always under the impression that parking lots are private property and therefore it's less likely that a cop will give a citation to someone for driving recklessly in parking lot.

But they will for yelling at someone? I know the guy was an a$$hat, but is that REALLY harrassment? If that's the case I need to make a police report against the drunk yesterday who called yelled at me for being a stupid b*tch because he couldn't stagger his way fast enough to catch the bus he wanted, which I didn't, but which I was passing in front of when it pulled away.

Steven - This is LA(or OC). You are not supposed to call the cops for an auto accident unless there are injuries, do you really think they will show up cuz someone yelled at her & drove off?

Fun times in Rogers Park/Edgewater I see...

 we were in Uptown when he got on the bus.... that says it all.... but yep, I live in Edgewater

can of lemonade and some form of alcohol in a paper bag that he poured into his little cup!

Oh THAT explains it! Imagine what it would have been like in Lincoln Park.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

He wasn't driving off. He was sitting in his parked van with the window unrolled. The baby's crying was disrupting his cell phone conversation apparently so he honked and yelled at her and the baby to shut up. I'd recommend any woman who feels they are being threatened in situation like that to call the police before it escalates.

Pick your favorite watering hole on Halsted... or OK... up in Wrigleyville.

BTW... I wonder how many harrassed Sox fans will stick around Clark St bars after tonight's Sox-Cubs game...

Most stores have some sort of security guard...

And 911 is not the only dispatching authority that contacts the police.

Yep. Back when were living in LA I saw a Walmart security guy call the police over a dispute between two customers about a parking space...

Don't know how it flows in LA but some cops in Chicago actually do care about verbal assault.

Well where we lived... Yeah it was pretty much that sort of place...

A few towns over they ticket you for parking a dirty car on a public street.... Or for going around without a shirt...
