WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain on Thursday accused Sen. Barack Obama of breaking a promise when the Democrat decided to forgo public financing in this fall's campaign.

Again I'm not trying to spin it or defend it. I don't agree with the way the candidates are playing the campaign finance system - but (again) there are more important considerations on that score than a broken "promise". That's the least important criticism.

POINT to consider when voting - Can you trust a guy that made a statement and promise last fall openly that he would use public financing of campaign and not accept private donors or lobbyist money, when now this candidate says he will not use public financing after all?
