According to the White House, there are 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil shale in the Green River Basin of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming ... that can't be tapped because of statewide bans.

The President says the country needs to increase its energy production, but congressional Democrats are rejecting the idea. They say oil companies don't make use of the 68 million acres they already have under lease.

Local environmental groups are outraged. Joe Neuhof of the Colorado Environmental Coalition says,"If Congress was to make the poor decision to open up our last best places to energy development and decided to move forward on oil shale, we would see a mass industrialization of Western Colorado. We'd see roads criss-crossing the landscape. We'd see effects to human health including cancer clusters."

...

Proponents in Congress believe drilling in areas like the Green River Basin in Colorado and Utah would be highly profitable because of the high price of oil. They say the area contains three times as much oil as Saudi Arabia's proven oil reserves.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Since we hear silly talk of boycotting states left and right, perhaps those in favor can be relocated to mining sites. At least I hear the paychecks will be pretty darn good.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

This I have no problem with. Drill the heck out of red-states, what do I care? In the end, we all get to buy the oil at market and who has the money to buy? That's right, blue states do! This way we get cheaper oil and we get to keep our beaches. It's a win-win for the people who matter.
