Hope you all have a great Friday.

Jackie

Would you know my name

If I saw you in heaven?

Would you feel the same

If I saw you in heaven?

I must be strong and carry on

Cause I know I don't belong here in heaven...

Oh Jackie!!! :luv: I love that Eric Clapton song! I had completely forgotten about it until you quoted the lyrics here!

I watch and interview once where he said he wrote this song for his little boy that passed away.

Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven

In other news: Today is the last day for the book, "Women of Sand and Myrrh", in the MENA Summer Book Club!

We start, "Zohra's Ladder: And Other Moroccan Tales", on Caturday!

Those in the book club if you read book 2 pls put in your final words.

I am still reading Sand and Myrhh. It is very good! I am glad I bought this one. The first character, reminds me of Jess. The authors words to describe a 'compound' in a desert country where women cannot walk free are intriguing.

It's only 12:30 here but I'm always philosophizing. One thing I was surprised at was the elicit relationships of these women in MENA countries where it is punishable by death.

Good morning everyone

have a happy blessed Friday all (F)

Nothing's impossible . Nothing's unreachable .When I am weary you make me stronger

This love is beautiful .So unforgettable . I feel no winter cold when we are together .

Will you stand by me ?!!!Hold on and never let me go .

Will you stand by me?!! With you i know i belong . When the story gets told .

When day turns into night .I look into your eyes . I see my future now .All the world and its wonder

This love wont fade away. And through the hardest days . I will never question us .You are the reason my only reason.

I'm blessed to find what i need in a world loosing hope. you are my only believe .

You make things right every time after time.....

Will you stand by me ?!!!

I love you so much and i miss you so much more .

Happy Friday, whoohoo

Jackie I love that song too. It is a sad one though:(

I have a question for the cooks in this group. (haha that would not be me....oh poor habibi). You know the beef stew meat you buy from the supermarket? Well, I don't know what kind of cows are butchered in MA...but OMG the beef stew meat is HARD!! It's like chewing shoe leather:(( Is there any way to make it "softer" so it is not so hard on my poor teeth? hehe silly questin but I wanna know if someone has a trick. you know because I cannot even fry an egg without burning it:))

And speaking of cooking and my poor habibi...I have THIRTEEN days til I see him. And that means a couple of weeks or so after that, he will have to risk my cooking if he gets to come back. I have to learn how to cook by then and today (if I have time) I'll start with cooking kraas thanks to WOM's recipe in the recipe thread. So I'll let ya know what happens and if I make a mess, I'll ask for guidance from the ones who know better, lol

You can tenderize the meat by punding the ####### out of it with a meat hammer (or anything heavy, really) before cooking. Likely it is poorer quality beef but also the cooking method can lead to toughness.

Oh! I vote for pictures of okra seedlings from WOM.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Hey I never thought of taking a year's worth of frustration and immigration issues out on meat!! thanks:))))

Yeah it's been cooked in crockpot, frying, and baking. So....likely it may be bad quality of beef. Probably so because I only buy meat on sale cuz it's expensive otherwise:(

Yep, that sounds like the quality of beef. Good beef IS very expensive. So yeah, try that. I'd do a google search for some times as to how long... I think you can over-pulverize it but I'm not really sure. This is where the vegetarian in me sort of comes out because I have totally forgotten about times of things like that. Ammar won't eat beef anyway so no need to re-learn!

palilover, I use beef stew meat for everything, soups especially, but when i cook it, whatever way, i simmer it on low in its own juices for like 2 hours, if juice dries up, add a bit of water accordingly...this way the meat comes out as soft as a roast...
