Fathima had all the files with her. I cracked a joke to her. If the total weight of all the files including album doesn't weigh more than 50Kg, she would get "Administrative Review" from the officer. She believed that and putting more and more print outs of chats/emails etc

Hehehe Hyd, one more thing I made in the last minute. I made a Marriage affidvait from her and my parents on the stamp paper and get them notarized, just in case. Also, took the original joint property document of the commercial land and shopping complex plus a 3 bedroom apartment we acquired recently along with Bank Manager's letter about the money transfer from my foreign account to her bank account Now, proof of relationship is a bundle. We did it after hearing Indianheart's case at consulate. I wish good luck to Indianheart

It is highly recommened to all to take all these joint bank account/ joint property documents. These are concrete documents to prove the marital realtionship continuity. Also, if you have filed joint tax return, that's another concrete proof. Good luck to all

We are still far from getting an interview, but it's never too early to get ready, isn't it? :-)

As far as I know, the photocopies of petitioner's birth certificate and US passport are submitted with I-130 to USCIS and the original beneficiary's birth certificate and its translation are submitted with DS-230 to NVC.

My question: do you need to produce the petitioner's original "long" birth certificate for the interview?

I am trying to find out whether it's needed as it will take a while to expedite my husband to get it. :-)

Leah, if your original birth certificate contains the following, you're all set.

The certificate must contain the:

Person’s date of birth

Person’s place of birth

Names of both parents, and

Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records

Thanks Loto, wish u best of luck as well. weight loss, wrinckles, more gray hair, less sleep, nightmares...you name it LOL. I think I aged 10 times as much this year. the loss of weight loss is good since i will recover from eating all the good stuff while I am there.

Consulate interview is for the applicant/beneficiary. So beneficiary's docs are needed at interview. However, it is a GOOD idea to take petitioner's originals too at interview. I have given all my originals to my wife except my U.S passport. Hope this helps out But I have given to her the copy of my passport too.

Hey guys - sorry I've been MIA (combination of letting it sink in that I'm one week further from seeing my baby than what I had planned, coupled with making wedding reception plans!) ... You guys already heard about the postponement so I won't get into it again lol

Anyway - Neetu called the embassy and VFS today to check out some of the formalities. As expected, she now has to wait until July 1 to deposit her courier fees ...

Interestingly, she specifically asked the VFS rep if she could pick up her IMMIGRANT VISA in person, and she was told YES she could ... She was also told that the Visa would be at VFS most likely the day after the interview, and that she could track her passport online after the interview (as we have already learned on this site) ...

SOOOO - She'll verify this when she goes to deposit her fee in about a week's time and, if she is told that she can really pick up her passport, then I can book her on a flight within 2-3 days after her interview rather than waiting till the following Monday/Tuesday (which would be up to 6 days after the interview)...

Is it necessary that the benecifary has the petitioner's original documents too at the time of interview.. Is it Compulsory to have or is it just for our saftey ?? Our case is at Mumbai US Consulate..
